If it was done last April at a Toyota dealer, it's the new process.

My 2015 got the CRC treatment not to long ago. My frame is in really good shape. I don’t think the CRC should scare ya off, if anything, you potentially had a previous owner that kept up with service bulletins and warranty work.

ya I guess it was kind of scaring me off. I'll have to get under the truck and just check it.

The new CRC treatment is inside the front boxes in frame portion and just the welds along the U/C channel frame on the sides only. It looks like snot and they plug it. To the untrained eye, it looks like they didn’t do anything on the outside of the frame. The only thing that is noticeable are the plugs and the snot around the welds midway down the frame.

I wouldn’t exactly call it “snot” It’s more like whale Chissum on steroids!

So I checked it out today, honestly not even interested anymore once I saw the rust, they were asking 27.5k. I said I wouldn't even go higher than 21k looking at the rust that was there. I also wasn't seeing the CDC coasting from toyota that was stated on the carfax? no "oozing" from the frame. The trucks engine and interior was spotless but thats not what kills tacos as we know. It also was a 2015 OR DCSB with only 59k miles and in the pyrite mica color which looks great. I'm wondering now if I may have to go to the south or west to find a good truck if the rust is this bad...

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:
Frames not bad it’s everything surrounding it. Good call on the pass.
Unfortunately I think your gonna pay a pretty penny for a low mileage 2nd gen.
    Good luck with your search.

Doesn’t actually look like the frame was coated. The plugs aren’t there and the inside of the boxed section doesn’t look coated.

Looks like a typical New England truck to me. Frame looks fine it’s just the rear end and shocks that look rusty.

Looks good to me. I’d actually expect it to be worse. All of the photos you posted is just normal surface rust.

I agree the frame could've been sanded out with a wire brush and then repainted but the rear suspension components were wrecked. They looked like they had 12years of rust on them rather than 6
