Can't tell from the picture. But, it's a brand new truck. Unless it's a scratch or something you caused, your dealer will get you fixed up.

Missing clearcoat or does it look like the clearcoat has separated from the paint? Delamination, although not common, does happen and can usually be fixed easily by a skilled detailer. Missing clearcoat would be very odd. Either way, new truck, start with your salesperson and be friendly, they will fix it for you.

Ive got a 2015 4x2 with about 1100 miles and no bad spots in my paint. I understand there built in Texas only. Possibly the worker had a bad day.

Probably more likely just a manufacturing error it happens. Workers could have a perfect day and do the job perfectly. Besides that the painting is done by robotics.

The trade off of mass production is that some errors will get missed. Nature of the beast. Its an obvious defect so it should be taken care of by Toyota.

Actually looking at the pictures it looks more like a scratch to me. The OP will have to convince the dealer that it was present prior to him taking deliver in that case.

Also to the OP I'm confused did you buy this truck new and have 100 miles on it or dose it have 118 or 18,100? I hope that you very closely checked the truck before taking it do you know if this was present before you took the truck or not? This is where you'll have problems as you'll have to convince the dealer that this was present upon delivery otherwise they can very easily argure that this is post delivery damage.

Its not a scratch, the line your seeing that looks like a scratch is just where the clear coat has come off, its peeling or flaking off, the paint is fine underneath. I bought the truck last friday with 18 miles, it now has 100 miles

I know how you feel. Takes the excitement out of the new truck. As most have said get it to the dealer and enjoy your truck.

Does it have anything to do with the plastic wrap? I'd try a clay bar and little wax. If it is still there then have the dealer do it. They'll buff it out.

    *Update*
Took it to the dealer earlier today, they said it was a paint problem from the factory, dirt under the clear coat or something along those lines, they found 2 other areas where it was happening also, so they're gonna fix the whole fender. Thanks for everyone's input i appreciate it

haha yea, the body shop manager said they've only seen this a handful of times. The dealership was very helpful and they'll be getting me a loaner vehicle for the 3 days they said they'll need to fix it
