That's funny, here around WNC you have to hunt long and far to find a DCLB....

I wish they actually made a long bed.

I'm still waiting for the workman package. No frills, no carpet, just 4x4, a 7 foot bed :D and whatever I decide to add to it.

That's a shame that they are dropping the reg cab, but I guess it'll never affect me. I'm always going to have at least an Xtracab, as much crap/people as I haul. I did rather like the reg cabs though- I think I could make a mean rig out of one. :D

It is because in Canada, DCSB is available only in 6MT, and 99% of people want automatic, therefore most of Double Cabs up here are DCLB.

If Toyota Canada offered DCSB in 6speed manual AND automatic at the same time, the situation would be similar to US where DCSB is much more popular than DCLB.

We're going the wrong direction again. What's next, Toyota? How about a triple cab with the same engines and transmissions as you sold in 2005? Update the engines and transmissions instead of screwing up the body options.

I'm sure it was just an accounting decision, but it's sad for those of us that care that there are no new small trucks. At all. The extended cab isn't bad, but the double cab is huge. I see old full size trucks that look about the same size as my "little" regular cab Tacoma. :(

I have a 2012 Access Cab and like it BUT I used to have a Std Cab first gen Taco and the shorter truck RULES in tight off-road situations. Sorryto see the Std Cab go...

Like sombody said above, I would like to buy a new Std Cab, 2.7L, manual trans, 4x4 and park it is a garage until my '12 wears out and then have a new "half cab" in about 15 years.

Such bullshit. I'll repeat what I said in an earlier thread today:

I'm damn glad I bought my single cab just last month. I don't have garage room for even an extended cab, never mind a double. I like the awesomeness of an air conditioner that can have my cab cooled in about ten seconds. I like being able to parallel park. I don't want an SUV with a truck bed. I want a goddamned truck. That means a driver, a passenger/dog, and a cargo bed. Period.

The larger issue is that manufacturers think they can get sufficient truck sales in spite of not giving consumers what they want. Can you imagine what sales of Camrys or Accords would be like if they only updated the vehicles every eight years? That's what truck owners/buyers deal with. Car buyers get better MPG AND horsepower figures almost every year. We sit on the same old engines and drivetrains. Toyota could take the Hilux diesel and drop it into the Tacoma, they'd fly out the door. Yet none of this is happening.

Toyota, it's not the single cab that's the problem. It's your refusal to take truck buyers seriously.

Why? Do you think there is that much difference between Canadian and US market?

So they might start a lineup of Access cab, double cab, then Crew cab similar to the tundra?

with the regular cab slated to be dropped from the lineup. Toyota Motor Sales Truck and SUV Senior Communications Specialist Sam Butto said the company had no official comment on the matter at this time.

Buy a bed extender from AutoAnything.com or Amazon.com... I got mine for around $100 shipped and it solves that problem... My bed is only 5'...
