Interestingly, I was speculating this two years ago:

    year 2025 News flash:

Gen 2 Tacomas will drop access cabs in favor of the new "six pack" 6 door models. Because too much is not enough!

On a side note the new short bed is 4' and the generously spacious long bed is the 5'.

.....diesel myths still abound on the net as for the future gen2s.

But right now, they have 3 frames.
Without the RC and DCLB, they only need 1 frame.

I understand your frusterations about the future loss of the regular cab. I learned how to drive on a 1977 toyota p/u...long before the Tacoma name was branded. Back then little pick-ups were just that, little. Now even the smallest option is significantly bigger than its predecessor.

^Those work truck and fleet buyers will probably just switch to Access Cab 5-luggers, which is already the lowest trim available in Canada.

No short bed for the new Tundra regular cab? Where are you getting this from? I was debating getting another one.

That blows if it is true. I loved my Reg. cab. Plenty enough space, and with the 5 speed fun to drive.

This isn't the first, and won't be the last time these magazine sites will be wrong.
One of the linked magazines was the one that brought us news of a Toyota/Ford collaborated Eco-Boost for the 2014 models.

Hey Toyota, Gimme a 2014 Reg Cab with a 2.7, 5-Speed, 4X4 AND add in the TRD Off Road package. Paint it in the FJ Cruiser tan color and Ill buy it tomorrow. Thanks!

I actually emailed Toyota asking this and they said they cannot do custom orders.

They did collaborate on the hybrid pickup thing, then went their separate ways.

Not so sure I'd call it collaboration.

Toyota has whored out their hybrid technology to GM as well as Ford.
