Sorry to hear about your strange fan noise....wondering if you have checked the cabin air filter and housing unit. Sometimes the filter and casing become full of debris that can cause the fan to chatter. Give it a look and let us all know....we can look further if need be.
    Good luck

“Strange” is such a nonspecific term it’ll be hard for us to give much help beyond wild guesses.

Could you describe the noise in more detail?

I get the same noise in my '15! Its a subtle whistle, it hasn't bothered me enough to poke around though.

I literally had a mouse nest in my intake and mouse crap in my cabin air filter. They tore the filter apart and it would go "wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" the entire time it was on high because it was pulling the filter into the blower motor.

I had three or four nests in my fan over the course of a year. Had to be the same mouse coming back over and over again. Never seen anything like it, and it actually made me miss a mean old cat I used to have.
