My new 2015 Taco 4 ltr V6 has a annoyingly sharp initial throttle response which makes smooth starts on its 6 speed manual difficult. Just a slight touch of throttle results in too many revs which causes a jack rabbit start. Any attempt to moderate the revs will usually result in a engine stall as the clutch is taken up however gently.
Any one else had this issue?? Wonder if it requires a dealer re flash of the EPU/throttle body/injection combination. ??????????????

It's your right foot needing to learn what the machine is telling you combined with your left foot needing to learn what the right one is doing.☺
Have you owned/driven older models of Tacomas?
My 2015 TRD Sport V-6 auto drives a little different than my previous 2010 version of the same truck.

Sounds like driver causing issue. I have noticed this when driving a different manual Trans vehicle. You just have to get used to it. Then let your feet do the same.

I have an automatic 2015 PreRunner - no issues like what is described by OP.

My wife's '06 Avalon has the touchiest accelerator pedal I've ever dealt with.

2015 v6 6speed here. That's just how they are. You gonna have to get used to it. I just feather it to start moving and shift to second nearly immediately. My 1988 5 speed 4runner wasn't much different and my bro's 91 5spd toyota is pretty much the same. It's a bit different than other makes, but it's a definite toyota truck thing and it is what it is man

Thanks fellers, your suggestion that it is a annoying trait on this model is correct. Took it to the dealer yesterday, service rep says, yes they all do that it is caused by the electronic throttle not fully smoothed out at the design stage. They ran a diagnostic to make sure, it was exactly to spec and nothing can be done. My Indian Chieftain had a similar problem, throttle was on or off in traffic making for jerky running in slow traffic. Dealer re flashed it, eliminated the brake throttle over ride on manufactures instruction, problem solved. The Tacoma has the same technology of BTOR but unlike Indian they will not eliminate it because of legal speak. The BTOR is a electronic device that cuts all throttle input if the brakes are touched simultaneously. How it causes imprecise initial throttle openings is a mystery because the brakes are not being applied when taking off. Wonder if the issue could be addressed with a after market chip.????

It's just something you will get used to. Once you do, it won't cause you any more problems.

I have driven manual gear box vehicles exclusively for 60 years. I learned to drive on a three speed Ford, none had synchromesh boxes in those days. I passed my HGV test on a Military 14 ton wrecker with two gear levers on its all crash (no Syncros) gearbox. Driving tests in England had to be carried out only on manual transmission cars. Drivers only trained on automatics were not considered competent drivers. I don't think I have to learn to drive a stick shift transmission, but yes, this electronic throttle glitch does need special care and attention to obtain butter smooth gear changes that I am used to.
