Never heard of a Prius truck. Might have to look into that.

Most stupid comment that could be made. Really its very unreasonable to not want better mpg. Just because one drives a truck doesn't mean they want shit mpg.

What are the mpg ratings for the 2014? I cringe when I read that a 2014 Chevy Silverado with a V-8 gets about the same EPA highway as my 4-Cylinder Tacoma. At least on paper.

    Is it really though?

If MPG is a concern you should not be in a truck, as a daily, period.

I guess if you just driving to school on your parents dime...

Those of us that need a truck to work and would rather keep the $$$ in our pockets, mileage is a real concern. If I can save $1,000 per year on fuel, that's $1,000 I can spend somewhere else.

What do my parents have anything to do with it?

Why do you have the lift? Do you off-road every day? You need to be able to justify the loss in MPGs...

Hell, I'd like to have 100+ mpg from my daily drive but it's unlogical to think so..

Jesus fucking Christ. Every time someone brings up MPG, some other asshole says they should drive a Prius. Like you can only want one thing at a time. It might as well be an auto-douche response by now.

I have a truck. I like my truck. If there was an option for my truck with better MPG, I would've bought that truck instead. Know why? Because I want better MPG too. It just wasn't as high of a priority as the rest of the truck.

I commute 20 miles each way and I drive a truck because I build custom homes and need to pick up materials. Your line of thinking is idiotic, not everyone sits in front of a computer.

Why so mad? Why doesn't he have the lift? Lifts don't hurt mpgs, the size of the tires definitely will but not the lift.
He doesn't need to justify crap. Who are you anyways?
I think it's logical to wish we can get the highest mpgs possible as more than half of tacoma owners here drive them daily.

Yeah, it’d be cool to get 30+ on the highway with a supercharger, 35’s and a 4” lift. I’m not gonna walk around acting like it’s going to happen tomorrow.

As far as sitting in front of a computer... well someone has to make all the woodwork for that custom home, right?

My line of thinking is not idiotic. It's reasonable. I know what these trucks get stock. If I need the MPG for company driving, I leave it stock. I don't expect fantastic numbers. I don't expect to do 400 miles on a tank. If I'm paying someone to drive to a job site, I much rather there truck already be optimized for MPG.

Mad? For disagreeing with you? Don't bother...

He certainly doesn't have to justify anything with me. I'm not holding a gun to his head. It's simple, you lift and add tires. MPG drops. I'd love to live in a world where gas doesn't exist and vehicles just run forever, but it isn't gonna happen. Be logical with your decisions.

I expect 20+ per tank. I guess I'm an asshole for not expecting 30+ :(

Who wants to spend more on gas? If you could have your exact truck, with whatever it is that makes you like it, but it uses less fuel, wouldn't you like that? I don't grasp the logic of "if you want mpg get a prius" I don't think anyone is complaining that their truck doesn't get 40mpg just that it's not as good as the competition. My car puts out almost 300hp and gets nearly 30mpg. There are ways to get economy and power in a truck. Diesel is an option. Turbos are an option.

Our trucks are supposed to be efficient, if the fuel consumption wasn't a concern there wouldn't be midsize trucks.

I went from 22 city in a '10 4 banger to 19 with a '14 six ... with wider tires and 2 more cylinders I knew what I was getting into.

Now as far as Chevys getting better mpg this is more likely true but ... I would put my Tacoma against a Chevy over the course of its life.

    I paid cash for a '10 SR5 ... 4 years and 42,000 miles later I sold it for $2750 less than I paid for it ... and that's why I have been in Toyotas since 1982 ...

Now .... back to the OP's post.

    You're assuming a lot here.
One: no one said anything about job site.
Two: do I need to offroad everyday to justify a lift?
Three: I think you just justified this thread saying that you expect 20+mpg.
Four: I think you're an idiot.

Have a great night. Im going to enjoy driving my lifted truck while wishing toyota would do better and produce a engine that could get better mpg while I mash the peddle.
