Nice, this is something I want to learn how to do one day. Toyota dealer here in LA charges $3k to do a clutch job on my 04. Crazy.

Just curious but why did you replace the clutch with so few miles on it? Or was it to upgrade?

Edit: I'm assuming it had relatively low miles being a 2015

Both, The TOB was squeaking and the clutch was starting to slip. So I upgraded to URD Stage 3 with Heavy Flywheel and Short Shifter. I will say in the 80-90 miles I've driven it so far its been amazing. Smooth a butter, and it doesn't seem to bog down as much with the extra weight and heavier tires.

Awesome, yeah I hate the stock clutch on my 04...doesn't grab well even though it's only got 20k on it, and I worry about it with the supercharger. My TOB chirps like a garage full of angry crickets too. So did my last clutch.

I sold my 6sp man with 98k miles. It was just starting to get the TOB chirp. I would have tackled it myself too but needed a DCLB so moved on with auto trans. I sometimes miss the sporty feel of the manual and being able to choose gears and shift points.

    Great write up!

Great write up. Thanks for taking the time. I'm going to get a high inertia flywheel for mine when the time comes. Do you feel a difference in the ease of take off?

I do! There is no slip at all and the clutch enganges with very short travel unlike my stock clutch that waited till the last 1/2" to engage. Dealer said they couldn't do anything to adjust the engage point on a hydraulic clutch so I'm glad this changed it. I hated the long travel for the stock one. It engages smooth as butter.

Nice guide, I pulled the transmission on mine just to install the URD sleeve since I had got the annoying chirp at only 30k-ish miles... Now its about another 30k later and I can hear the faint noise of the chirp again when I am higher in the RPMs, its very quiet but it is definitely starting to come back. I'm gonna wait until it starts to get worse as it once was than I think I'm going with the hydro fix. Hope yours lasts longer. BTW I must have got lucky because the trans in this thing was the easiest to remove and put back I've ever dealt with lol. But I've only had to deal with PITA FWD honda transmissions up until the truck lol.

yea I'm hoping it lasts longer than 70k. I wonder if they have a write up on the Hydro Fix, They have a great write up on the Short Shifter.

IIRC someone on here actually detailed his process of installing the hydro clutch it seems pretty straight forward, cutting the snout seems like the only major bunghole pucker moment.

Mine started chirping like a biatch Saturday :frusty:

And I just spent 4 days replacing the whole suspension and welding a few bits. My wife is going to be pissed when I tell her to say goodbye to me for several more days :goingcrazy:. I did my brothers 1st Gen with him a few years back and it took two solid full days and lots of cussing and beers.
I do remember how big of a pita that top bolt was on the bell housing.

How much did that setup run you and is it a proven Tob chirp solution? See you said something about ss Tob?

I have done this a couple times on my 2015, not to bad over all if you have the right tools.

I put the sleeved throw out in at 6k because it was garunteed to be a problem in the future, did the stock flywheel and stage 3 URD first and not have the heavy flywheel and stage 2 URD.

I am sure someone will be helped by your write up!

Reason you went from stage 3 to 2? Still chirp free?

The sleeve is more of a temporary fix from what I've read. After less than 30k miles my sleeve has also started the chirp again. The only permanent fix seems to be the hydro route.

EDIT: If thats the question you're asking...

The URD stage 3 had too much jerky clutch chatter, and hard lockup for towing. I tow frequently.

No throw out bearing problems yet!

I have wondered this. About there in mileage since installing mine, I was not a huge fan of the design when I got it.

Spent the money, so I may as well ride it out and see how it goes.

It seems some people here have gotten more mileage than I have and have yet to have the chirp reappear. That or they haven't listened closely enough. Mine is only very very faint now, so much tha the sound of my tires and moderate volume music basically makes it impossible to hear. I only noticed when I drove the truck and didn't turn on music.

I pray it doesn't get louder but I'm not holding my breath. For now it's so quiet it doesn't bother me too much.

I tow a bunch as well, so may look at the stage 2 then. If you're saying its better for that. Also probably heavier flywheel and may look in to going hydro route. After i do some research to see if i am capable of it, o_O

I have done a clutch in a 1st gen, so familiar with the PIA it is. Hopefully the 2nd gen is a little easier, probably not though. :bananadead:
