    Hey Team,

Bought myself a beautiful 2015 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road 4WD with 97k miles on it a couple months ago. Came with a 2" suspension lift. I took it in to a trusted mechanic for a 95k-100k check up and they replaced the spark plugs, but everything else looked great. I've gotten a lot of advice on hear about fluid maintenance amongst other things. I want this truck to last me for years, maybe so my kids could even drive it someday. I know that means years of steady care and maintenance, so that's why i'm looking here.

Any suggestions on what i should replace, check, or proactively fix that a mechanic may not recommend or look for?

This is my weekend truck, i don't drive it much around the city and don't use it to commute to work. Just to and from as needed throughout the week, but mostly used to go up to the mountains on the weekends for skiing, camping, and a bit of off roading here and there. Would love all suggestions. Thanks y'all.

I’d change the the fluid in the Transmission, Transfer case, and Differentials.
Remove the Serpentine Belt and inspect the idlers and pulleys.

And don’t ask what oil type and weight.
Just use what the Owners Manual says.

Or ask and get really confused with all the answers you get.

    Wheels, tires, mud flaps, etc.
Good info above and I'd add frame rust protection depending on where you live and where the truck spent its first seven years.

OP, Replace the serpentine belt unless you know for sure that it’s been done. It’s really simple to DIY and save yourself tons of cash.

Good luck with your truck, you’ll love it!

A mechanic will never tell you to wax it. So I would wax it.

every fluid, filter, and grease fitting to start. When things start wearing out like ball joints bushings and bearings it adds up and for people who neglect their car instead of doing one thing at a time on time, they start thinking it’s “unreliable” when they let 10 things linger and add up

like being assigned homework on Monday that’s due Friday and waiting until Thursday night to do it

except people are supposed to enjoy their cars and having things fixed versus homework

there are mechanics who do polish/paint correct, sealant, and wax…

    the entire serpentine belt system.

some people never touch the u-joint grease fittings, mentioned above. Theres 5, 3 on rear 2 in front.

For transmission, theres a whole thread on drain and fill here because theres no dipstick. And because you cant check it, put this procedure at the top of your list. seems daunting buts its really not when broken down
