Well in all honesty I don't think there's anything better to look at than what I already have.

I'm smitten, have been for like 12 years now. :D

Seriously thinking about an Extant Solid Fold. Stopped by Truck Toyz yeaterday and checked it out. Damn good quality, sharp looking, too.

Comes off so quick, though, it could be stolen same time someone steals the tailgate.

Eh, I don't bother with a tailgate lock. Shit is barely attached to begin with and I have insurance for that. I don't live in SF, if I did I'd probably be more hesitant.

Hey, a question about that.... Where is the connector for the camera? If I gotta take off my tailgate to load something, where does the camera cable release?

I can check tomorrow and PM you. There's a sticker inside the bed saying that if the tailgate needs removal to unplug the camera. I haven't looked.

I've had multiple people tell me this....and it's probably the best thing to do. I'm just not really satisfied with it and as my other post said I think the tacoma suits me better.

I can probably make the 4Runner work for now, but it pains me to keep making payments knowing as soon as it's paid off, I'll probably want to buy a Tacoma. Heck in 3 years, I may want to keep the 4Runner or trade in for a Trail.

Why would you say it's a suckers game? Will I really be losing a lot of money or losing out that much?

Keep in mind that the following is just financial advice, and there's more to life than just money. That said:

The biggest depreciation hit a car takes is the day you drive it off the lot.

You usually can't sell a nearly new car on the private party market because buyers all need financing. So you have to sell it for wholesale to a dealer. If you do find a private party buyer, it's because he knows he's buying for cash and he can wait for a good deal.

Every time you buy, you pay the sales tax and title fee all over again.

Every time you sell, you lose the unused portion of maintenance expenditures that you already put into the car. That is: when you paid for your 15k service interval maintenance, but then you sold your car at 22k miles, you only "used" half that money and you gave the rest to the buyer.

Pretty much all money you put into customizations to make the car "yours" are lost when you sell it. Not completely, but mostly.

But the main thing is that you bleed wealth through your car payments. You only start getting ahead financially when you're not making big monthly time payments on loans such as car payments. So you're "winning" financially in that time interval in between when the car's paid off, and when you sell it or drop it off at the wrecking yard. You're "losing" if you roll over an unpaid off car into a newer unpaid off car with a larger outstanding balance.

A few folks will disagree with me (generally stock market risk takers) , but the generally accepted conservative approach to building your wealth is to pay cash for the least expensive car that meets your needs and keep it until the wheels fall off.

My non-financial advice is: "Have what you want, but want what you have."

This is all just advice man. You know your life better than I do.

What kind of motor did the Corvair have in it? The 1964---- I think I saw that car a few days ago with a two inch lift, heated seats and mirrors, and really nice wheels and tires.

Oh --- on the truck --- go buy one as soon as you can and have a great time with it. The longer you own it the more fun you will have.

Well in that case I could live with the Runner and just lift it 3" and throw on some 33" Tires. That might make me live with the Runner. Although not sure if I'll be able to fit in my parking garage at work :p. Decisions Decisions.

Don't remember exactly but it was a rear engine air cooled flat six cylinder engine.
