Hello folks. Has anyone had this issue with the their wheel lock ring on the old TRD pro wheels? Not sure how this started or what it is. Really only appeared on my driver side wheels which is odd. I also tried ordering a couple new rings (part #PTR18-35091) and the Toyota part dealer said they can’t sell it to me unless I have the Tacoma model it came with. What a joke 762AF87A-3879-4C9E-91EE-BC84E4097958.jpg

There are plenty of online vendors that are less concerned about the VIN restrictions and will likely be cheaper to boot. You’ve got the P/N which is the hardest part.

Yup, that's clear coat failure. The clear on these is horrible quality. Mine are less than 2yrs old and some of the clear is already starting to fail.

Like the others said, try different dealers, they seem to selectively apply the VIN requirement (although it seems like this is tightening up). Or, do a search to find a TRD Pro truck for sale which has the VIN posted. Then use that VIN.

But if it were me I'd do what @whatstcp said and just strip 'em and re-clear myself. Be sure to use a high quality 2k clear otherwise the problem will return sooner rather than later.

I noticed mine started to make a noise one day and found out the bolts were loose on the ring so dont forget to check those after installation!
