Some of this Some of that
I have a one ton dump truck for landscaping work, once and a while it ends up in the shop and the taco has to do some towing. Enclosed trailer is 7x14 about 1500lb with 2000lbs of mower in there, dump trailer is 4000lb with 2000lb dingo. Both have brakes. I wouldn’t tow either on a regular basis with this truck, it’s just not meant to do it and something will break

I pull a 7x12 enclosed 7' height. Im in the vending machine business and use my 08' access cab 4x4 v6 to move machines a lot. I know ive been maxed out plenty...I do have firestone airbags. I think your truck will be just fine hauling furniture

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.. I just towed a 4800lb 24' camper trailer home through some hill-filled terrain with 180k miles in my 2010 stock. I'm certain that your truck can handle furniture and a 6x12 trailer. I also pulled a 6x12 trailer fully loaded with my stuff at least 3000lbs total through the mountains in the eastern US without an issue at 150k miles.

That being said, your truck will be put under more stress, the engine will need much more gas, and you'll probably want to change the oil more frequently. Pulling the camper trailer, my truck felt like it was working three times as hard to go the same distance which means it is being worn out faster. Decrease your oil change intervals, transmission fluid, coolant, brakes, etc. and you should be fine if you are diligent with the maintenance. There will be more heat and wear and tear on your truck. Set money aside accordingly. The bigger the motor, the less impact there will be on the motor overall.

That being said, the Tacoma has legendary reliability and I've seen guys with over 300k miles. I've also seen guys with brand new Dodge Rams and a cracked block, new Ford F150s with electrical issues, etc. I've had my truck for 50k miles and all I had to change was a pair of o2 sensors outside of regular maintenance items. Is it worth switching to another truck that might have more issues? Hard to say, although I've heard good things about the Tundra as well.

fyi: I do not tow heavy loads regularly

My V6 Taco 4x4 LB pulls a 5x10 x5h (about 3,000lbs loaded) box trailer well. But needs to be in 4th unless on flat ground.
Unfortunately, its not as good a tow vehicle as my 3.7 V6 Mazda CX-9. That could hold top gear running at 70 Mph with the same trailer. The Taco can't hold the OD gear above 55 or 60.

I did tow the CX-9 on a car trailer with the Taco though :) It actually drove pretty well, but was diligent to keep it at about 55 Mph most of the time. Never felt uncomfortable or dangerous.

6,500 lbs. pulling power has several qualifiers for that amount to haul.

I once towed a 12-foot 2-axle U-Haul truck from Pennsylvania to Louisiana. The motor did fine but the strain on the driveline caused the drive shaft to break the U-Joint right at the differential.

    Just sayin'....

Thanks again for the information. My question now is I have read a few posts on here about firestone airbags. I'm confused what this is about? Are we talking airbags in the truck , just a bit confused what the airbags do if its something else.
