    Yes at one point keyless meant pushing the button on the remote. So I guess the better statement, the manual transmissions do not give you th smart key system.

    ... and sadly Toyota half-assed it.

    My funcar has the "comfort access" as BMW calls it with sensors on both passenger and driver doors. I can walk my wife to the passenger side and open the (locked) door for her without touching the keyfob. Works very nicely.

    On the Tacoma I have to dig into my pocket and use the button to unlock the truck if I'm going to open the door for her.

    Yeah, I know, #firstworldproblems and all that. But seriously, a couple extra sensors wouldn't have killed them. I gather the ECU can handle it (badda-bom!) so if they make that change in the 2018s I'll be looking for parts to retrofit. :)
