Thank you @moe2o4 for the excellent step-by-step photos! Exactly what I needed for the confidence to take my dash apart (on day 2 of ownership) and hard-wire my radar detector. Already learned a great deal from this forum, today is was fuse taps and where to find a good ground. Thanks

So any reason why you didn't just tap into the fuse in the engine fuse box labeled "FOG FR"? Just wondering since I want to use that other ign fuse inside to wire up keyless entry.

Nope, but then you'd have to run a wire from the switch back out thru the firewall to the engine fuse box.

Cool, just a thought. Also, any idea what the difference is between ign. 1 and the ign. 2 fuse? Is 1 always hot and 2 only when you turn on the vehicle? Can't get my damn multimeter probe in there to figure it out.

Nevermind. Didn't have a good ground when I tested it. Without the key in the ignition the verdict is: Ign. 1 fuse had a healthy 12.7v, Ign. 2 fuse had a whopping 0.

Thanks for the help. Did exactly what you had here in the thread and fogs work perfectly. I just might think about routing the wire back to the fog fuse in the engine bay so that they turn on and off with the headlights and turn off with the highbeams.

Now the question for us non SR owners who got factory fogs, what's brighter, the Miromoto LED fogs you guys are using or putting H11 Opt 7's in to replace the halogen bulb? I would be curious as I am thinking maybe these housings were designed with reflectors for an LED bulb.

When I finally get around to installing these on my SR I am going to use the Opt7 H11's. Was a little less pricey than the Miromoto LEDs and will match the color of other LEDs I am going to switch out in projectors and high beams. Parts all ready to go just need to find time to do it.

Finally got the Offroad Arsenal Fog Light switch. It is 100% perfect fit in the Tacoma dash.

FYI_You do have to specify what color back lighting you want on the switch when you order it.

This instructions gave me the strength to do it myself! I am going to skip the part of the ignition switch because I don't know sh*t about electricity and it scares me a little LOL... But definitely I'm going to do it!!!

    Thanks mOE!!!

Instead of going to the ignition switch, I just tapped into the hot wire at the left front park lamp.
Red wire-I hooked directly to the battery positive post.
Black ground wire-hooked up to a ground near the battery.

Awesome write up! I just picked up my car yesterday and I've been itching to find a good write up on this, thank you sir! So I found this kit on eBay has anyone tried it or knows if it's even compatible with our generation Taco's?

I have OPT7 bulbs for highs and the Morimoto's as the fogs. The OPT7 bulbs are brighter but the Morimoto assemblies give you a huge spread of light due to the parabolic lens on it.

Hello, I have a question about my wiring harness. On the passenger side harness there is a relay switch, something with a fuse in it, and a grounding wire. I've read in the previous post about the grounding wire but where do these other parts attach? Thanks for the help!

The red wire (with fuse) is for the 12V positive power.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what that means. Is it correct to leave that on the passenger side or should it be rerouted somewhere else? I'm completely confused due to this harness being different from original instructions

I think you meant that the red wire is attached to the positive side of the battery? And is there a good place to attach the relay? Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

I ran the red wire directly to the battery and mounted the relay on the inside of the fender support by the battery.
I didn't tap into the fuse box at all.
