I never test drove the new V6 engine because I knew what I wanted. I've had both I4's and V6 engines in my past trucks and realized I really don't need all the torque/HP. The I4 has a great reputation of being easy to maintain, can rely on for the long run. Toyota builds great engines. So you need to decide what you're going to do with your taco in making your decision. I plan on keeping this truck for a very long time and I know the 4 banger will get me there.

Bought mine because of reliability. Never test drove the V6.

Cleaned the blue off the wheels and took a super nice shot as I left work! My note 5 camera is amazing!

The most effective way to give your truck more torque without forced induction is the radiator cap mod.....

    Step 1: Remove radiator cap
    Step 2: Buy a v6 truck
Step 3: Install old radiator cap on new truck.
Step 4: Experience the power on your much more powerful truck.

In all seriousness, the 2.7 is never going to be a power house, you could put an LCE header on but it won't make it a monster by any means.

Those wheels look great! Loving my Note 5 too, just got Marshmallow on it 2 days ago, this phone puts my GS4 to shame.

That is a good looking truck right there...love the stance! Couple of questions: Is it lifted? Are those the tires that come stock on the "Pro" wheels?

Okay, whose turn is it to harass LCE about a header for the 2016? Does anyone know if there are physical changes to the 2015 and 2016 manifolds. They look to be the same from pictures I have seen. Maybe some one could park their truck next to their buddies second gen and compare...any takers?

An unrelated header story...I owned a 1981 Rabbit diesel and I came to believe that a header for a gasoline engine would fit, so i ordered a header. Well, guess what?, It fit! I installed the header and drove it very crudely connected to the existing exhaust pipe, and had a noticeable increase in pep. I drove straight to the muffler shop, all the while enjoying my new found performance. I had them install a larger exhaust pipe. Big mistake. When it was all done, I had exactly no increase in performance, but, the engine was unbelievably smoother. The dash used to rattle at idle before. Gone. Engines like a balanced exhaust manifold. I like to believe that I am the only person to put a header on a rabbit diesel.

On a flat highway with a calm day and no load, around 70 mph in 6th the rpm is around 2000. If it downshifts to 5th, rpms increase to about 2500, another downshift to 4th and it goes up to around 3500. 70 mph and above seems to make it shift frequently between 5th and 6th. Driving speeds of 60-65 mph avoids a majority of shift changes.

Just picked up my SR5 4x4 from the dealer. I've got about 300 miles on it so far. I originally wanted a V6 and sometimes I wish I would have went that route.... But not when I'm driving it. e5af42ae43532412cb60f5ad61605d0d_e4db1dbd56940940158e4bc25a5ee17119792404.jpg

Got some new wheels today. Sorry the pics aren't great. The black wheels get kind of washed out. Especially in the gloom of the PNW.
