That was the one thing it didnt do...i i purposely tried R -D drop while slightly rolling backwards...engaged instantly.

Its all really strange to me. I have had really good weeks with awesome performance, but then its like after i fill up the tank it acts like it lost its memory. Then it "re learns" again.

hard enough dealing with one menopausal woman......

Yep, hope toyota comes up with a fix soon before I drive myself crazy with hypothesizing and posting scenarios on the internet.

So I'm now using S mode just about all the time - S3 in slow town driving (up to 30~35 mph) and S6 on the freeway.

I no longer need ETC and the truck is no longer doing the constant downshift/upshift/downshift/upshift searching BS when I am on freeway slight inclines - a much better driving experience!

Have you noticed any difference using CC in combination with S6 while on the freeway?

I haven't had a chance to drive on the highway yet but have been driving around town in S6 the last couple of days. There is certainly a difference in behavior. My only complaints about the ATF are highway related, primarily in CC so I am looking forward to testing that but, for anyone that generally doesn't like the way the transmission behaves you might try driving in S6.

Absolutely, if you do this it messes with the way it learns your driving. Do what you said and find a back road and get after it.

Dr. evil, great post, only issue , description indicates you have 6MT. Difficult to experience 6AT debacle first hand. 4Tacoma DC4WD Auto.............Tacoma hit home runs for me.................5th Tacoma same configuration.................Toyota struck out for me............ One trains puppies............ Not transmissions..................be realistic.........Toyota is working on a fix..............when a manufacture brings the latest update to the number one desired product in the segment..............it should be proven worthy of an update/ improvement without Tacoma owners being the field testers,,,,,,,,,,be realistic , Toyota has bulging pockets..........just deliver the goods to your loyal following.GOD bless America!

Low fluid has nothing to do with the way the truck feels to you .
Just because the butt dyno says the fluid level is good and if you read through that link I provided , it proves that its worth it to have your fluid level checked

His point was regardless of how your truck feels and drives it may still be low on fluid which is not good for the long term reliability/performance of the transmission.
