Modoc - Can you take a direct side picture showing the gap and the height of the Canopy in relationship to the rear cab top?

How 'bout just a bunch of pictures in general? ;) That's a combo I've been considering and would love a lot of porn.

Cab itself is identical. Every door panel on the cab has been indeed changed in some way though.

Just got back home from a two week trip and finally had a chance to examine my CX topper and it does indeed sit higher. With that being said, it does sit just like @areaccessories said, flush with the highest part of the cab and not the back where it tappers down.

I've been walking around looking at ARE shells in my neighborhood for the past few days....there are about 10 tacomas, 6 with ARE shells. No ARE shell sticks up like the 2016 model. There are Zs, MXs, CXs, and Vs.
All the shells are below the roof crest and more in line with the tailing edge of the cab. None look like a V shape they are nice and flat across the back.

I have been doing a survey also on all truck types staying away from commercial applications and older models.

There appear to be two types..."Scoopers" and the "Blenders"... also have noticed on Tacomas that the bed gap between the cab and the bed has gotten wider which would acerbate the problem...

Update: Also noticed that the problem may not just be the top, but the sides also if they are wider than the cab and the gap to the cab is too large...and true as well for the top, it is not just the height but the distance from cab to cap...it seems that on the older caps that they fit "snugger" to the cab and this distance has gotten wider all around.

That does not look like it fits well.

I'm really glad there is this forum and I saw the CX here....because it was the cap I was going to buy...not so sure anymore. Thanks for posting your pictures and thoughts about the caps. Hope everything gets handled properly for you.

Are sees no issues with it. They only see an issue with the trim job on the back where the door meets the sides, there is visible white fiberglass showing. They are willing to fix that with warranty work but have not addressed anything else

Well im glad ARE takes care of their customers. my brother in law and I have been battling just to get listened to by LEER. its been a shitshow and they literally couldn't care less. My brother in law sent someone in corporate a lengthy email describing a problem that the installer couldn't/refused to address and basically corporate said that's not my problem. literally that's about the length of their response. not a single im sorry to hear youre having problems, let me call you and we can see if we can do anything, nothing. just "its not my problem". we should have gone ARE the whole time apparently. I tried to get a refund because the service and installer had worse customer service than Comcast. they said theres no way we can give you a refund and downright refused to do anything about our problems. I had to take it to another installer and have them fix things. LEER clearly doesn't care who they have installing their product and don't want to stand behind it either. Next time ill know. @areaccessories

In no way am I saying are has takin care of me or has listened and cared about the issues. Fixing the fiberglass is what they have offered after numerous emails. It seems it's more to just move me along. They have said in their last email, "In specific regards to the MPG and wind noise issues, those are not warranty related issues and any concerns with those would have to be addressed with the dealer where the cap was purchased". -So to me it's just saying deal with the cap, and your complaints about it.

ahhhh ok. I didn't get to read all 7 pages. I skimmed and thought I had the summary down pat. yea the cap my brother in law got wasn't installed very well and it took the paint off the bed of his brand spanking new 2016 tundra. they refused to even acknowledge him. and I basically had to go to someone I knew that happened to be an installer that I knew cared about their name to have mine properly fitted. my back glass wouldn't shut and the people who installed it wouldn't take care of it. I wish people still gave a damn about their $2000 product that people spend their hard earned money on. well, I wish you the best of luck man. my brother in law is suing so it came to that with his...

Sorry lots of snow where I am. It lines up nicely though. No overhang and no notice of mpg drop (if anything it may have improved)

Was told this might help Thias1805

Thank you YotaLife406! Interesting comparison to previous posted images of CX orientation to cab. Maybe ARE's Andy & design team can weigh in?

another example of a correctly fitting cap from ARE. this is the X, which is the same mold as the CX on a 2015. found in another forum thread. not exactly a side shot, but it's pretty evident that the edge does not match up to the crest of the cab, but with the trailing end.

_DSC4839 copy.jpg Here is my SnugTop Rebel...it sits higher than the aft trailing lip of the cab...also included a fuel mileage pic. Full fuel, no passenger, rolling freeway but no major elevation gains, light traffic, 62 mph on cruise control, otherwise empty truck...from the 24 mpg shown I would have to conclude that there is minimal aerodynamic drag either way and that the SnugTop does not decrease freeway fuel milage. But have to account for the extra weight in acceleration so would maybe be less but not due to shape design...
