I wandered over to the local Snug top dealer today to check out potential caps for my future 2016 dcsb.

I spent some time with the "rebel" series with drop down front slider, insulated top, etc. It was very nicely done.

The sales guy said they were about $ 1600 color matched and installed.

    Does this sound about right?

btw, he had not heard about the new Tacoma coming out around August...I showed him a picture of the new truck, and he was not sure if a new model would have to be built. He said if a new model was required, it would be about 3 months before they would be available after the Tacoma release.

It's likely the box dimensions will be different but who knows? Only thing thus far that's been mentioned is that the tailgate is taller.

3 months of say is being pretty generous, it'll be double that likely for many mods that are proven to surface ie: summer to fall of 2016 based on other major changes and other vehicles.

Thanks for the link on production schedules.

It supports the dealer guestimate of an August delivery. Since I just sold my Tundra , the delivery date is more important!

The box dimensions are likely going to be very similar to the existing size, the problem could be with the contour of the rail caps and tailgate. Here's a comparison picture.

Looks to me the height and cab profile will be the same but the length will be longer so molds for current shells will need to be modified.
When I bought my 2007 in December of 2006 SnugTop had yet to produce the Hi-liner I need so had to go with A.R.E. Which took longer to get on the left coast and IMHO was not of the same quality I've had on SnugTops in the past.
For this reason I decide to not wait for the 2016 and bought a 2015 last week.
When My Sport Hi-liner is available for the 3rd gen. I will probably want to trade.
Any bugs in the drivetrain should be resolved by then.
