Has anyone noticed clear coat bubbling along bottom of 2016 OR dbl cab? I noticed 2 spots same area both sides, bottom of wheel well in front of tire. 93a1e13bcec86aee9d8015743375dbeb_2357bb3fb7d1c7f1f5b652eb78c8b5ba035be8d7.jpg4653bb08c9e6c078adc1528b14aecb32_e67692335511423bbb1a657ebd86cb36262ed0e0.jpg

It's hard for me to see exactly what you mean.

Those rocker panels have some sort of bed liner like product under that paint that makes that area of the body appear rough. It runs along the entire length of the body. At least it did on the second gens.

That's a protective film from the factory.

Yes it does but this looks like white air pockets in the clear coat. Very noticeable on black truck.

Here's a little closer look. If you have ever seen a crappy tint job or bad installation of protective film on phone screen, same thing.

    Ask your dealer about it..?

I'd assume that's the protective film not contacting the body in that area, but you'd know better since you can actually look and see if there's film in that spot to begin with by finding the seam.

Yeah I'm not sure how you would get all the bubbles out of that film right there. I guess if it bugs you that much you can remove the protective film.

I just went outside and checked my 2016 Tundra and I have no bubbles so that film can be applied to that rough area with no bubbles. I'd take it in and have them reapply it.

I was under the impression the protective films where white not clear and for vehicle transport. Once vehicle arrives at dealer its removed prior to being offered for sale.

That's a different protective film than what we're mentioning.

That's for transportation, the other is clear and is usually on the leading edges of the bed where it sits against the cab, both top and bottom.
