What is everyone's opinion on getting a long bed or a short bed. The money isn't an issue but I am concerned about the added bed length with parking and such. I have a GMC K1500 extended cab with 8 ft bed right now and it is a giant pain in the ass to park so I rarely drive it. Do you see any noteable decrease in mpg with the long bed? What would you buy?

And before anyone says anything I did do a search before creating a new thread but didn't find the info I wanted.

I think a DCLB will feel like a Geo Metro in the parking coming from a GMC with 8 foot extended cab. From what I have gathered from specs, the DCLB is only about 60 lbs more than the DCSB so mpg will probably be exactly the same. If it were significantly different there would be different MPG estimates for that configuration. I think the DCLB's with a 2-3 in lift look amazing. Just wish they offered the manual on the DCLB! Darn you, Toyota!

Good for you nipping the d-bags in the but. I'm going for the dcsb mainly because I don't need a long bed the short bed will suffice my needs and it'll be easier to park and Manuever and imo it looks better

Why I want a DCLB Tacoma: I can't sleep in the bed of a SB. I can with LB. Also, access cab too small for buddies to ride in. A DCLB will still be significantly shorter than your GMC.

Switching to a 2016 SB from an LB. I agree with you: the length of the LB Tacoma is the same length of a full size Chevy or Ford. I got plenty of use out of my LB but the Limited only comes in SB. I'll make do.

Most likely going long bed. It's only a foot longer I believe so it wont make much a difference driving but that extra space goes a long way in cargo room. Depends if you need it or not. For me... Hockey sticks, fishing rods, camping gear, surf boards, and most likely some home upgrades soon.

And an extra 10-15k for a similarly equipped full size. I just PDI'ed a SR5 equivalent regular cab long bed Chevy 1500 for $44k

    SB or Full Size??? What?

Who cares if a DCLB is as long as a dodge ram. Doesn't mean its better to drive a piece of shit just because its as long as a DCLB. I bought my Tacoma for its dependability, resale value, trail capability, etc instead of a better appointed larger and cheaper F150.

DCLB or Ford SportTrac. (by the same logic)

I drove each bed sports 2016 and each bed off road back to back on the same route. The long bed has a bit of a shimmy over bumps with no weight in the bed. 13 inch longer wheelbase is the reason i suppose. It isn't super noticeable, actually didn't notice it at first. But if you really scrutinize the ride it is there.

I am getting ORDCLB for sure.

Paying invoice at 34,xxx on my access cab. My employee price on the Chevy is still over 40k and it's still only a regular cab

The long bed doesn't feel much longer at all. Back up cam makes it VERY easy to park too.

FWIW, I wanted a DCSB (only because the price was lower). I got the long bed because they gave a good price. Every time I haul I am assured the long bed is necessary. Everything I move takes up the whole bed. If I had gone with the short bed, I would have had to make multiple trips almost every time.

Just implies they can't get the MSRP, or are overcharging.
Also, Toyota doesn't seem to have much trouble getting what/close to their asking price.

I must be lucky, other than the diff vibe that Toyota fixed, I've had no trouble!
Had the truck almost a year, 4mi when bought, near 22,000 now, 3 trips cross country, 2 of them towing a trailer. :notsure:

Yessir. They are rare though. Something like 2% of builds.
