I would go ACLB before I went DCSB, but I am always carrying small loads of lumber and whatnot. If all you are going to put in the back is a cooler and maybe a bag of mulch now and then go with the SB.

Unless you use your truck as a grocery getter soccer mom retirement man hauler, I'd suggest the longbed. The shortbed is a joke for hauling anything besides these things. Learned my lesson with my first Tacoma. And add a 3'' lift and 285s and longbeds look beautiful.

It's funny because for awhile I thought the short beds looked badass. But when I continually watch my brother fill up his long bed frontier for trips and borrowed it for moving stuff... The long bed start growing on me. Now I'm 100% certain I will need the long bed.

And no... I don't want one of the full size options. Not a fan of the Tundra and not willing to go with another brand. I've owned 3 Toyotas and all have had stellar reliability. The 04 explorer I had gave me problems at 80k miles. Dropped it soon after.

Imho Tacoma looks the best. Icing on the cake.

Toyota even demoed the DCLB TRD OR at their big media thing. I have seen a few on cars.com being sold but yes, they are harder to find at the moment. That may change when a shitload of DCSB's are out into the wild. Admittedly, the DCSB is the config that most buyers are after even though I would get the DCLB.

They made a limited DCLB on the later years of the gen 2. Wonder why they don't now.

Really wanted a dclb OR, contacted numerous dealers in the Midwest the last 6 weeks. They simply can't be ordered now. Who knows when. Could be months. I didn't want to, but I'm settling for a short bed. I need a truck now, not in 6 months. I figured a nice bed extender would get me almost 7 feet of usable space. My last taco was a long bed, and I never had a bed extender. The 6 feet was always enough for me. I'm hoping the 7 feet provided by the extender will work out. Fingers crossed.

Any of you guys out there with short beds, wish you bought a long bed?

    I bet it's a 2017 thing.

And probably happened because they can't even produce Tacos with the JBL system. If you look at the people posting about their "delivery" dates, everyone who choose the JBL package is hanging out to dry till mid November at least.

If we had a dollar for every time we say this.....

We'd be able to buy a Taco off the lot at MSRP ;)

DCLB OR arriving any moment now. Drove '15 DCSB and DCLB in a couple of trims. Around town handling and highway handling seemed the same. Parking, same especially if you are coming from a 8' FS. FWIW the '16 Taco is almost exactly the same size as the DC '-04-06 Tundra's- I should know, I had an '04 Tundra and my friend has an '05 - we are going to park his next to my DCLB for some pics when it gets here but in the meantime you can Google it - the Taco and the Tundra have both grown over the years, we looked this all up the other night:

    ’04 Tundra
    218-230" L x 75-79" W x 71-75" H
    HP - 240
    Torque - 315
    Turning R - 47.5'
MPG - 17 downhill with a tailwind, 16 over 200k miles in the real world

    ’16 Taco
    212-226" L x 74-75" W x 71" H
    V6 278HP
    Torque - 278
    Turning R - 44.1'
    MPG - allegedly 18/23?

I looked up the wheelbase almost the same - maybe .5" difference - you would swear they took the Tundra and implanted it forward 12 years with a new engine.

[edit - FWIW, going serious OR'ing you might want the SB but otherwise I think any of us will be just fine mild OR;ing with the LB and you can flat out put more stuff in it.

because different shocks, and different tires couldn't possibly affect ride quality. It has to be that extra 13 inches.

strange thing about your chevy employee price. I was going to buy a GMC sierra all terrain 4x4 SLT crew cab and it was discounted from 51k to 41k loaded with everything including leather, nav, trailer brake controller, etc...if it fit in the garage and came in stick I would have strongly considered it.

I think it comes down to what all your going to be using it for? I have a dcsb and I'm able to haul my atv for hunting n such just fine with the tailgate down. I think with parking you'll be fine coming from a full size previously and the backup cameras are great to have for parking n such.

Have you driven all 4 back to back? I'm telling you sport to sport OR to OR there is a shimmy in lb with no weight in the bed. I don't get what is so hard to comprehend.

Long bed is definitely worth it. I dont haul a lot, but I cant even fit my mountain bike in the bed of my truck without taking the front wheel off or leaving the tailgate down. Theres also been numerous times where I had to make extra trips or strap stuff in because the short bed was about 6" too short. That damn 6" gets me every time

Oh great... another SB vs LB thread...because the 3rd gen comparison will have all new reasoning than in the 2nd gen comparisons. :D
