I have never owned, driven or even ridden in a Tacoma but I want to downsize to a smaller truck. I went to my local Toyota dealer yesterday to try out a new Tacoma. The truck looked great and everything was fine until I sat in the driver's seat. Wow! I was so close to the floor that my knees were higher than my chest. I asked the salesman how to raise the seat and he replied "you can't". He then said He would recommend the Tundra since the seating position was higher... I am taller than average but definitely not a big person so I have to believe that many others have a similar problem. Is there an after market kit to raise the seat or what do some of you other long legged guys do?

Honestly, this is one of the things that I've always loved about Toyota trucks (non-Tundra). I've always been really comfortable in a low seat, similar to a sports car. Had an Element for a while a few years back, could not for the life of me get used to the kitchen chair like uprightness of the seat.

This seems to be the preferred method.

Yep. Depending on thickness, longer bolts may be in order too, so one is not riding around in a ejector seat.

I'm 5'9'' and I feel like I sit a tad too low in the Taco. Haven't driven the 16 yet though.

Washers are not a good idea, especially for average height people. It moves you too far away from the center console so resting your arm becomes impossible.

If you plan on raising the seat make sure to check your headroom especially if it has a sunroof.

This would be the case even with power seats unless you had an integrated seat/console.

I haven't sat in a 2016, but they are supposed to be higher from the factory. I haven't put washers in my 2006, but I've thought about it.

This whole thread could have been avoided if Toyota would have included a simple seat height adjustment.

If you don't fit, don't buy it. My son wanted a Tacoma but I told him to try mine for a week, he's 6'6" 290 lbs. He couldn't make himself fit, went to full size pickup instead.

I'm 6'6" and I'm comfortable in mine. Just drive with the seat all the way back.

I took a test drive the other day, and it really wasn't bad. I'm 5'7", but my legs are a bit short, so when sitting my upper body is about as tall as your average 5'10" guy. I usually like to be propped up a bit, but I knew what I was getting in to when I drove a 2014 before. Then again, I had good all-around vision and minimal blind spots...so I think it was pretty good.

If I was over 6'2'' zero chance I would get a Tacoma. My Dad is around that height and I have to shoe horn him into the Taco.
