    Hello,

I have a 2016 Tacoma sr with the 2.7 4cyl. I have an intermittent electrical issue that is affecting the truck more often than not. For the past six months the truck would randomly die and would need a jump and would run fine. Not even sure if this is tied to the issue. I thought I probably just needed a new battery and would carry my jumper box Incase it died which it did a few times but pretty much stopped when the weather got warm. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and my head unit went completely black (no radio, backup cam, nothing…) I thought what a bummer now I need a new head unit… then I noticed I couldn’t adjust my mirrors at all so that’s when I noticed I could have an electrical issue going on. That stopped then a day later I started the truck and the head unit started working but the ac and windows stopped working and most if not all lights were illuminated on the gauge cluster (abs, airbag, brake, traction, etc.) and the truck wouldn’t go into gear. Started the truck today and everything was okay so I went for a drive. Got gas and the same thing happened again. I had to use the shift lever release with a screw driver to get it into gear. On the way home the truck was slamming into gear and ran pretty bad. Not really sure what to do at this point. I tested the battery voltage at about 12.5 and 13.4 while running. Pulled the negative and the truck kept running so the alternator seems okay. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

So you haven't replaced battery? I'd start there and also check all grounds.

Start at the negative battery terminal to body ground.

First of all never disconnect the battery with the engine running, you can easily damage electrical components from voltage spikes doing that.

Because your having multiple systems affected I'd start with main grounds as stated above, if those are good get you a test light and start checking fuses when it's acting up and see if any are missing power and if they are see if they share a common power feed.

Power and ground distribution diagrams attached below.
