You and others can assume what ever you like.

When you have engine air flow coming through the intake system with open tp. You create an air stream. When the tb butterfly closes the air hits the butterfly and causes turbulence in the intake system causing air with vapors travel back to the filter.

This is why you also have the big damper/ resonator on the intake pipe.

Also the map sensor is directly attached the the intake. It does see oil vapors from the pcv. It has little are moving in and out of it. But they do get dirty and clogged at times.

You are wrong on all "theories". Have fun, I'll be sure to laugh when you make a thread in a few thousand miles about ruck not running/shifting correctly.

Don't count on it. Look where the pcv tube is. Do you know why?

It's a shame guys like you won't listen and learn and you just keep passing poor information along.

You want to eliminate oil vapors into the I take or minimize them to help keep sensor clean. Use a pvc catch can

That's the fresh air feed port for the engine. The engine relies on a flow of air through the crankcase. The oily/dirty output is plumbed directly into the intake manifold. It never sees the MAF

So is the oil in the TRD filter different from the K&N? Totota approves the TRD filter for ECU and emissions. Or is the issue K&N uses to much oil? I would venture to say not much difference between a K&N and a TRD filter. Probably made by the same company. I doubt TRD has its own air filter factory. I think this is just dealerships unhappy that they can't charge you for a new air filter and they send out bulletins to there techs telling them to put the blame on the aftermarket filter to avoid cost of replacing a defective component, and Auto manufacturers unhappy with the sizable aftermarket industry taking away from their sizable profits. I respect your opinions but encourage reading from other sources. There is to date no confirmed instance of a MAF being clogged and inoperative because of the oil particles from an aftermarket filter. Maybe start by reading the Magnuson-Moss warranty act. The number one contaminate found to have caused problems in defective MAFs is silicon, traced to the sensors housing. Unlike oil it does not burn off. Now all that being said unless you run your engine at full throttle 50% of the time or more your horsepower and fuel consumption improvement will be negligible. It's more about the cost savings to replace paper filters.

It amazes me all the hub bub over one small idea. I won't debate the filter issue, just to say I have used K&N filters for over a 100k miles with no issue. I think a lot of folks do not understand that engine is just a fancy air pump. It sucks air in and blows it out, with horse power and torque as a by product. An engine can only pump so much air based on it's cubic inches and rpm. The engines of today have all these sensors to help mix air and fuel to the benifit of out put. So in GENERAL if you make it easy for the engine to breathe in and out, you ease the stress on the engine and it works more effectively.

Overoiled and under oiled you will have issues. I had almost 100k on a nissan ka24e engine and no issues or dirty maf etc.

    Same with my dodge.

I plan on running one on my tacoma when time comes to change.

Changing shifts though. I think it's the butt dyno showing it's results.
