I just picked up my first tacoma. 2016 white trd sport, 4x4, short bed, double cab. I am loving the truck so far.

In the next few months I was wanting to replace front bumper with something like an all pro or road armor or something similar with a push bar/light bar/possibly a winch. Problem is, it looks like the front bumper is solid sheet metal all the way up the fenders, and not something that I could just pull and replace like the gen 1's or gen 2's.

    Advice or comments?

Odd, considering what a big deal Sweers made about the rear bumper being 3 pieces to save money on replacements.

I'm guessing there will be aftermarket bumpers that will be made with that in mind and they will have to include the fender extensions.

I think this is pretty much how an aftermarket bumper is going to fit and look like.

I doubt we'll see any aftermarket bumpers until SEMA, but my money is on most builders clipping the bottom of the grill. Either cutting it, covering it, or replacing it completely.

I would cut it like this and keep the top part of the bumper cover as filler pieces, paint it body color, and build a plate bumper below the yellow line. Will probably have to create a bracket in the back to support the top filler pieces.

They missed a spot. I can't believe they're letting them leave the factory like that. It looks like trash.

So definitely not any current offerings in aftermarket bumpers for 3rd gens yet OP.

Aftermarket probably going to be a sec to develop something.

Interested in how the offerings will look considering the grill hangs down into the lower fascia like that.

work truck or not, you shouldn't have to be looking for after market bumpers to replace the horrid blacked out bumper that missed the paint booth from the factory! GAWD
I didn't mind the 2nd gen base models with the black fender flares on the 4x4's and prerunners, but this is so wrong!

Still won't look like that unless you do some cutting. We're the bumper meets the the fender isn't a horizontal line. And the fender flares on the 3rd gen are one piece, so you will either have to get ride of them, or cut them.

I agree with you, I was just showing that the fab guys are on top of the situation. Once they get their hands on a 3rd gen they'll figure out a way to fit a design to the new Tacoma, just as they did with the 4runner. It wont be too long before all of the major Fab guys each have their own version for it.
