So I can have my heater turned off and if I'm siting still nothing blows out of the vent but as I accelerate it starts to blow. The faster I go the harder it blows heat and the blower is off is this normal never had this happen with any other vehicle.

Just push recirculate. That'll turn vents off.

Air flows through as you pick up speed and since the heat was on its hot but if you tune the dial to cold air then you'll get cold air when you speed up even when it's off because the air flows through the vents...pretty simple happens on pretty much all vehicles

    Most importantly

If the OP pushes the recirculate button, will it fix his problem?

I think the OP must have owned Fords his entire life. There is no way in a ford to get moving air through the vents UNLESS the fan is on. IMHO that really sucks. I have owned three (2010 F250 FX4 XLT, 2105 F150 4X4 XLT Sport and currently have a 2015 Mustang GT Premium) and without a fresh air, vent only function the air in the cab gets stale. So your choice with a Ford is stale air or run your fan constantly. My TACO switch is ALWAYS on outside air unless their is a funk in the air outside.

Yes, ever since the elimination of floor vents and wing vents sometime in the late 60's.

When you are using 'outside air' (non recirculation) the system serves as the ventilation system.

The reason it's 'hot' is you have the temp dial turned to heat. If you turn the dial to cold, it' will still be warmer than ambient.

Using outside air settings is very inefficient when you are trying to actually heat or cool the cab.

Well I know that my 06 tacoma didn't not do this and I checked my wife's 2012 Buick lacrosse and that doesn't do it either. Outlier you are correct in have mostly owned ford and I've never experienced this. At 60 mph it literally feels like the fan is on high weird that I have never noticed this also my 06 was always on outside air.

OP mine does the same thing. I have had many cars over the years that did not have AC. So this is just like the old time floor vents.

Most of my other older vehicles had the recirculate in the knob adjustment. Our Taco has a separate recirculate button.

I like the fresh air. I get plenty of RECIRCULATE when I fly, and I am in a plane for hours: it is so nice to breath other peoples air for hours .... NOT.

In my 2013 Taco, the system automatically turns off re-circulation when set to heat (after a period of time). Does the 2016 do the same thing?

Never happened on my 2015 Colorado, 2003 Dodge Dakota, 1984 + 91 Ford Rangers and several more trucks/vans,cars I use to own. Not a problem to me though as I have gotten use to this feature in my new Tacoma.

Actually, your 2006 DID do that. I just traded mine on the new one.

So did the 1992 P/U, 2000 Camry, 2000 Tacoma, 2006 Matrix and 2006 Tundra that i owned... and i would assume all years and models in between. It is more pronounced in some models, but every Toyota i have ever owned let outside air in at the temp selected unless the recirc button was pressed. Volume depends on speed. So did every Acura, Nissan, Mazda, Chevy and GMC that I've owned for that matter. All but Ford. Never owned any P.O.S. Chrysler products so i can't say for them.
