Its always been a Unibody on Frame construction. However, I wasn't allowed to look under it, but I was told it has a ladder frame assembly.

How can it be a unibody, if it has a separate bed?

It could have a sub frame. Unibody upfront with a frame bolted onto the cab and continueing onto the box. If that's the case god help this trucklette.

The original Ridgeline was a Unibody on Ladder frame. Keep in mind, the Jeep Cherokee has always been unibody, and is one of the best off road vehicles.

Unibody on ladder frame doesn't scream well designed to me. It screams compromise. Are you talking about the Jeep Grand Cherokee or just the mini one, because I only know one person with a new Cherokee and they are already working on a deal with dealership to get rid of it for something else. They are just as poorly built as the Patriots that came before them.

I'm sure, like I said, that the Ridgeline will be a great truck for people who just want the box to move around the odd couch. It won't be what I'm looking for though. Not if it's built anything like that last truck they put out.

Im not talking about the new Cherokee. The new one is built on a car platform. The Ridgeline isn't going to take Toyota sales either, but it seems that a lot of folks cant seem to appreciate competition. I know a few people with Ridgelines, and they are quite happy with them. Some even do some mild off roading.

And honestly, if you want to see some good build quality, Watch a Toyota Camry driving down the freeway. Look at the rear quarter panel, and watch it wiggle wiggle.

I used to be a huge Honda fan. Like I said I really want to find an S2000 in good condition one day as my weekend fun car. The last few Civics have been turds IMHO compared to the older ones and I really feel there entire vehicle line up is designed way to conservatively for me.

The Ridgeline just isn't what I think of when I think of what a Truck should be for me. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate that it could be a very good vehicle for most people.

I only have one friend/customer who has a Ridgeline. They live on a farm that's 90 miles from the nearest city and use it commute since the mileage is better than there Diesel. They had to spray coat the underbody because the road noise was unbearable and they haven't been happy with the ride quality given their expectations. They recently bought an old F150 Ecoboost at auction and they've switched to driving that on long trips. He's been trying to use the Ridgeline to check his ponds (he built his own irrigation setup, it's pretty cool) but it get's squirrely when it finds any mud. So you can understand why I don't have a great impression of the Ridgeline. It sounds like your buddies are really appreciating the Ridgeline but I trust the people I know IRL when it comes to what will work and what won't.

Well......I don't think Farm use is good for the Ridgeline. I think it would be a perfect vehicle for those folks that want a truck, but don't go on anything more than dirt roads.

I bought our Tacoma, because it was what I wanted.

But for 95% of my driving, I'd likely be far better off with some econobox.

Correct. I am as big a Tacoma fan boy as anyone on this site, but we (my wife) has had 3 Odyssey vans so far, and they are awesome compared to the competition. We also test-drove the Sienna and the Odyssey seemed better built.
For what I use my truck for (mostly on-road driving, very limited off-road) I will certainly consider the new Ridgeline when it comes out.
(For the record, I agree that the current Ridgeline is just as ugly as can be)

Yup, try selling a van to my wife though :D. I do know people who love there CRV's and Odysseys though.

Keep in mind the Ridgeline I was talking about was bought by a farmer, but was being used to shuttle to town on a few miles of gravel and 80 miles of pavement. They didn't like it for that over an F150....

Again, I'm only saying I don't have much faith in Honda and trucks because my IRL friend who owns one hasn't been happy with it at all. That sewers my opinion of the thing.
