@TRSAndrew hasn’t posted on TW for almost two months. Guys have been emailing and calling without getting a response.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-retrofit-source-ongoing-gb-via-andrew-trs.262802/page-290

You’re right, when it’s comes to TRS I can be a little jaded. Hopefully everyone that put down a deposit gets their lights and are thrilled with them.

but theretrofitsource doesn’t control the manufacturing process of the headlights, that’s Morimoto who is a 3rd party. They make housings, bulbs, LEDs, etc. for almost anything not just our tacos and theretrofitsource essentially just sells them

The one year delay was only one of the issues I listed.

True but TRS was already selling a bunch of other Morimoto headlights all around $1200-1500. Where’d they get $750 from if all the other lines are more expensive?

I’m not trying to argue with you because honestly I don’t care. People will buy what they want and I’m sure they’ll be happy with it

Honestly it was probably a sales ploy. They show a really nice price really early on in R&D to initially attract people then they have more exposure when they go on sale

Not 100% sure, but I always thought Morimoto is TRS. The acronym is even used in a few product descriptions Morimoto's site.

I think TRS is their main seller/dealer and they work together a lot.

Admittedly I have other things going on a bit more pressing than to cruise forums. That said, we have some 25 CS employees here (of now more than 50 total!) that can be easily reached. If someone's email is responded to and it goes to spam--they're not going to see that response. We also average a few hundred calls daily, all answered or returned using our new auto-callback feature. Lastly, we have at minimum two full time employees on our live chat service all day long.

We currently have 50 sets of Tacoma lights in route to us now, and will update with a more accurate ETA as soon as I hear it.

The Tacoma headlights are pretty much the main scenario that taught us to not accept a single pre-order until the lights are in transit to us because there could potentially be changes in pricing, delays in prototyping or testing, etc. Having learned from the issues that accompany this release, we halted Silverado, Tundra, and 4Runner pre-orders to be solely "teaser" ads until they are in transit.

    Examples:

    Silverado: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/chevrolet-silverado-xb-led-heads.html
    Tundra: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/toyota-tundra-xb-led-heads.html
(4Runner are a bit further out)

My apologies for the delays, but unfortunately these things happen with new products designed from scratch, and this is something we've learned from moving forward for our other new products (of which there are probably 20 in the pipeline right now alone).

Should anyone need to reach me directly in a faster method, my email is andrew@theretrofitsource.com and is also shown in my signature. We are open M-F, so any emails sent after hours Friday will not be seen until Monday morning at the very earliest.

Lastly, TRS created Morimoto in 2009, but the two are not mutually exclusive. Morimoto makes products for other vendors that aren't TRS, too. It is a standalone company using many of the same avenues as TRS, be it design, engineering, etc.

I hope this helps to clear things up just a bit! If not, please email me and I'll do what it takes to help out!

We found a compatibility issue with the base model trucks that do not have the "DRL Off" setting on their stalks and have updated the site accordingly.

If anyone who has a pre-order has one of these trucks, they will cause the DRL outline to run amber all the time, which in turn will burn up the turn signal resistor on the headlights. As much as I hate to say it, I'd cancel your order.

As best I can tell, this is basically stripped out models only, so probably no pre-orders.
