I just bought my first Tacoma about 6 months ago and it's time to make the truck a one of a kind. Since I'm new to the Tacoma World, I thought I would ask for some advice. Is it possible to run 285/70r17's with a 4 inch lift without doing any trimming? The wheels that I bought are SCS SR8 17x8.5, 4.30 back spacing, and -10mm offset. I see a lot of guys running this tire size with a 3inch lift and having rubbing issues. That's why I'm asking if it will help if I go with a 4inch lift? My Tacoma is a 2016 TRD Offroad 4x4 Magnetic Grey. Thank you to all that help.

You will have to cut your crossmember if you go 4" and wont be able to go back to stock if you wanted. Well it's possible but will take a lot of work. If you're going to cut your crossmember might as well go 6" lift. A 3" lift will be ok if you do a CMC with 285's on those wheels. @Quicksand_TuRD made his SCS wheels fit (same size offset as SR8's) and is running spacers but of course he did a CMC.

I was researching the tuff country 4 inch lift with the uni-ball uca's. The kit recommends a 33x12.50 tire with a rim of 5.5" back spacing or less. I'm just curious on why you recommended cutting the crossmember? I read the instruction manual on the lift and it didn't say anything about that.
