Before we start to flame for this... I just got back from my home country the Dominican Republic where the 2016 Nissan Frontier has already hit the pavement and oh my god is this thing beautiful. A close relation had just taken delivery of the diesel variant that will be the most purchased in the DR and the states will never see. But it seems like the Frontier really wanted to one up the Taco, it looks like a total redesign instead of face-lift, the interior is gorgeous, the exterior just as much.

If it's like the Navara, it's a good looking truck. But Nissan offers even less news on a new Frontier than Toyota does with the Tacoma.

And I don't understand it. Like others on here, the frustration level makes me want to jump ship at times. There's an alienation factor.

Nissan is probably waiting on Toyota specs so they can 1-up them with HP and torque, even though that didn't work so well for them with the last Frontier.

Ford didn't even mention that they were working on a new GT. They surprised everyone at the Detroit auto show. They also are in the business of selling vehicles and if you let people know too far in advance that a new model is coming out. It can hurt the sales of the current model.

It's built by the same people who thought the Cube was a good idea.

I like the Juke - a neighbor has one, and they let me take it for a spin around the block. If you just use it to haul yourself, some kids, and not a lot of groceries, it's a great little car, uh, SUV-wannabe. Otherwise, I agree that it's usefulness factor falls right off the earth.

But it does corner like a wicked beastie. Props there.

Any pictures of said truck? Inside and out? I mean, if it's already available for purchase over there there must be public info available right?

I wish I would have had my camera with me... But I had nothing when I was going gaga over it. Here it's a pic from the web:

How can the Dominican Republic a small island literally a few hundred miles from the tip of FL get a truck now... and the US knows nothing about it!

Looks like a Nissan Maxima with feminine lines. A CVT would go well in it lol. I honestly think the somewhat ugly gen 3 Tacoma looks better.

Personally, I'm getting a Tacoma in 2017, unless I convince myself I want to be a guinea pig and buy the 2016 on release.

Not to worry, i'm sure they'll butch it when it hits our shores because for us here in north america, it's gotta be "manly" looking.. form over function, first and foremost. :)

If Nissan puts a 2.8 Cummins in it, it should put pressure on Toyota to do so, even though the chief engineer has said Toyota cannot make a business case for a Diesel in the Taco.

The previous generation frontier looks way better. This new one looks like a minivan.

This is not the North American Frontier for 2016 (or any other year for that matter).
