I will be getting a 2016 in the next few months (if I can contain myself that long)...but.....I have one last deciding factor...............Off-Road or Sport. My dilemma is this.....I live in coastal SC and our roads suck......many may as well be quasi-off-road.
The main use of the truck will be daily driving and using it for kayaking trips (some dirt roads for that), camping (unknown on those roads) and other outdoor things. Road trip vacations will be taken (this truck will be replacing a smaller, old SUV).

Please help me decide which vehicle would suit my needs and stand up to the crappy roads that are in my area! I have a 1998 dodge 1500 that had some damage to the front end caused by the chewed up roads......I do NOT wish to deal with that again!

    Thanks!
    Gigi

Off road, never know when you will need a rear locker

    Off Road.
If you really want a sport, buy a Corvette.

Most people on here are OR bias. If you ask my opinion, unless you are doing some serious Off Road stuff. Doesn't really matter which trim. Both will do just fine.

Good! I have researched for months on this.........and that was the LAST thing that was driving me crazy..............the options are what they are (I can always get whatever after the purchase)............I do like the idea of the available power outlet in the bed tho. Seems useful for issues with river floats and such. We will see!

True either will be fine I prefer the OR. If you are leaning toward the sport, I suggest you take a test drive because I thought I wanted one until I got behind the wheel and seen how much the hood scoop restricts your view. Also I like the fender guards.

This is true. The hood scoop does take some getting used to.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe both the OR and Sport have the 400w 12v AC power outlet

Yes, that outlet was a BIG thing for me as (for whatever reason) my part of the neighborhood randomly looses power often (has been that way for YEARS, regardless of weather)............and I would like coffee sometimes and I have salt water fish tanks............smh ......gotta love the grid :)

If your that far out off the "grid" your probably best to get the OR. It has a softer suspension and if the roads are as bad as you say that are, a softer suspension would be beneficial

Would you believe we are close to a city? and interstate? The power company cannot figure out what the deal is with our bubble of the neighborhood..........those of us affected will usually sit outside and laugh about it..........at least for the FIRST hour...........then we get kinda PO'd............

Do you want the Locker of the OR or the 6 speed Manual Access cab of the Sport?

I appreciate the info! This has been a long trip of researching and waiting. Then we had the massive flooding here (I was considering used Tacomas til that happened). Seeing all the pics, posts and enthusiasm has me stoked to go for it!

    Here are the official differences

    OR
    -Bilstein shocks (softer ride)
    -Multi Terrain Control
    -Rear Diff Locker
    -Crawl Control
    -unpainted lower front bumper
    -unpainted fender flares
-chrome rear bumper (unless you get BSM)
    -16" rims
-I believe the LB has a higher gear ratio.
    -Lower MPG

    Sport
    -Firm suspension setup
    -Limited Slip Diff
    -Sunglass holder
    -paint matched front bumper
    -paint matched fender flares
    -paint matched rear bumper
    -hood scoop (cosmetic ONLY)
    -17" rims
    -front air dam (Higher MPG)

That's what it boils down to. Every other option is available for BOTH trims

Unpainted is black I'm guessing? Sunglass holders is meh............they stay on my head anyhow.............. :) I have driven all kinds of vehicles, small sports cars, full size pick-ups, flat front box trucks........so the "out front" view I can adjust to. This will be fun for me (I hope) unless I just get so frustrated I walk away a few times!

the black fenders on the OR were the deal breaker for me on an OR. Looks like the budget trim level on all other trucks.
Some people like the look... Me, Not so Much.
