Agreed, won't be $50K US, but what about $50K CDN, with the shitty exchange rate right now???

I hope its not near 50K Canadian or it means the Sport and Off Road are going to be real pricy as well.

I really do hope I'm wrong, but there is an All Terrain Canyon at a local dealer now listed at $47K. That price makes sense to me for the sort of Tacoma you are talking about.

It's not the exchange rate, despite of what we are told, it's what the market will bear and what the competition is selling theirs for. Currently the top of the line trims are the Sport Premium and Limited and both are just shy of CAD$40K. The '16 Limited won't go higher than CAD$42K, which is the top price for the Chevy Colorado.

This guessing game is quite annoying to consumers. The release date is 2 months away, why can't they give us the truck's specs, mpg and pricing.

    LOL.

Dude the top Colorado goes for WAY more than $42K MSRP. Here's a screen shot of the top Colorado with only half of the common options:

    upload_2015-7-13_14-50-7.jpg

That's likely where we will see the top end Tacoma. The local dealer has a Canyon on lot with a big bold sale price of $45K on it with a $47K sticker on the side.

We will likely see Tacoma start at around $26K now CAD for an absolute base model SR ACLB. The TRD Sport DCLB will start around $36K-39K and the primium version in the low $40K range. Limited will be between $45k-48K. You add in taxes and fees, plus the fact that Toyota doesn't move on price at some dealers, and a $50K Limited in CAD isn't hard to picture. Those prices line up pretty well with Chevy too.

BTW this sort of mistake is something I see common with people who buy mostly from a Japanese manufacturer. Just because the SLT trim Canyon starts at $42K doesn't mean that's what you normally see on lot or that it is the top end model. Usually the Japanese companies will have the top models already equipped with all the gadgets and chrome but GM, Ford, and Dodge love to let you add one piece at a time. So if you really want to compare a limited Tacoma and a Canyon, you have to add on about $7K of options to the SLT to get to that point.

I have never seen a "base" SLE or SLT on lot, only trucks with 1K-5K in goodies added on. In order to get the SLE or SLT base you are going to have to order it in.

in my experience $500-$1000 (US) over the price of a previous gen is pretty standard with Toyota, I don't see this being much different. add that to the current price of whatever options/trim level you want and I'm sure that won't be too far off from what you can expect to pay for a 3rd gen

Except the US price sheet was leaked and its a $500-4000 increase. A comparable 2015 dclb sport 4wd to a 2016 is now $3k more.

I should have mentioned a "comparably equipped" Colorado. Tacoma doesn't have all the options available in the Colorado, and the Canyon is the more luxurious model. I did some close comparisons of available features and on both the Colorado and Tacoma and that's the closest price I could come to. Colorado has more factory stuff available; OnStar, 4G Wifi, remote starter, lane keep assist, collision mitigation, power operated rear window and rear defroster, etc..

At any rate, $48k to $50K means Limited is not for me.

The 42K Colorado is missing options from the new Tacoma as well, such as Atkinson engine cycle, knee air bags, go pro mount, etc etc.

Check out the Canada threads. People were paying $43K for TRD Sports 3 years ago! The price isn't going down is it?

When comparing, go top model to top model. That's what Toyota will do. They don't chop price up here on the Tundra just because it's missing features the F150 has for cheaper. Don't kid yourself that Toyota will price under the high end Colorados.

They will price right at or just above because its a Toyota after all. And people will buy them.

Just an aside, the 4G on GM's is the biggest joke I've seen in years. They charge more for the data in Canada for the 4G than it costs to go get a portable wifi device from Telus, Bell, or Rogers. BTW the portable device would be good for more than just when you are near your car. What a joke of a feature. BTW is Toyota the only company left where the stereo doesn't call 911 automatically if the airbags deploy? Onstar is nice in that someone will baby you if you are dying in the ditch somewhere but even my Ram and F150 call for help and relay my location if the airbags deploy.

    so I tried same experiment:
according to sheet - limited with no extra options = $38 725
    upload_2015-7-13_14-53-8.jpg

    current from toyota.com - limited with no extra options = $37 230
    upload_2015-7-13_14-51-55.jpg

$1495 difference, so $500 off from my initial guesstimate, kinda splitting hairs but there you go

Still though, a substantial increase (it does have more features), and they don't want to go above $40k then buyers will start wandering to fullsize territory (mental thing). Look though a loaded limited is a couple hundred dollars less than $40k.

actually, looking a little bit closer, I'm not what website that person pulled those build figures from but doesn't look like the official Toyota.com website

Its $4000 in other trims. Look at my sport comparison, $3.5k increase, I linked you too in another thread. And its an official leaked document from Toyota. The link has been posted from caranddriver which sourced it from here from the OP who took it down ASAP after being addressed by Toyota Corporate. Those numbers are the MSRP numbers, hate to break it to ya.

Your post was inferring as if the pricing was inaccurate because it wasn't from Toyota.com, lol. I was simply pointing out that the build sheet shows the official MSRP from officially inside Toyota. Some people's kids.

The problem with comparing the 2015 to a 2016 is that the options changed. There is more stuff on a TRD Sport now that makes it a bit nicer truck. Hard to compare exact options packages when exact comparisons don't exist anymore.
