Hello everyone, so over the weekend my rear windshield was broken and I am having the entire thing replaced despite only the one panel breaking. I was going to keep the remaining parts and wanted to see if anyone was in need I could save some good pieces from the dump. It has a factory gray tint I believe ~23%.

My driver side rear was broken into, 2 years later I still find some pieces of broken glass in crevices. Why replace the entire back glass when a single panel fix should be enough?

You cant buy just a single panel, you have to get the whole thing as its all bonded together.

Safelite did the work on my truck with OEM stamped glass, looked like the only replaced a single panel because it was the only piece with tape.

I called 4 separate shops and the dealership, they all were saying the entire piece needed to be replaced. I have seen people replace just one piece but it is paid for and a newer truck so I am going to go with the full replacement. I am using Safe-lite and they also confirmed the entire rear windshield would need to be replaced.

I was going to hold onto the old piece and see if anyone wanted to try a diy replacement if they were in need thought I could save good parts from the dump.
