Bump. Any more 2016 shell pics? I'm looking to get a Leer XR w/ Thule rack as soon as my 2016 is delivered. Unless someone can talk me into the comparable ARE shell.

Snugtop Rebel with the Sportsman's package and racks. Plan on putting a Tepui on top of it at some point.

    Got installed this last Friday.

    Nice!

PLEASE post a picture of the inside showing the "roof/ceiling" and corners. Mine was supposed to have the Sportsman's package but didn't. The replacement is on order, but I would like to know what difference, if any, can be seen just by looking. I expect the roof honeycomb section will be thicker or there will be some sort of fiberglass beams to add support to the roof. I don't know if the corners will be thicker or will have some sort of visible reinforcement. Again, that's why I'm hoping you can take a few pictures.

    Thanks in advance!

Now you have me wondering. I will check in the morning. The roof is carpeted, so let me double check in the morning. My assumption is the overall structure/honeycomb is stronger.

I just noticed a problem with the door lock where, when locked, the handle still turns a little and one side comes unlocked. I need to poke at that more tomorrow. I've been under the weather to futz too much.

Has anybody had to remove their gas cover to match colours. Its held on with rivets.
If so was the put together with rivets an issue?

Sorry, life got in the way. I will try taking a picture tomorrow, but there isn't really noticeable in the corners. However, the center portion of the roof is apparently noticeably thicker (according to the dealer I bought it from). Looking, even though it is covered with carpet, it's about an inch thick.

Ha! Yeah, ARE asked for my fuel door. The guy at the shop I ordered it from came at my Truck with a hammer and what looked like an awl, and I told him no way he's coming near my truck and breaking the rivets. I ended up going to a body shop that uses the same paint as ARE and color matched it. ARE uses Dupont Duplicolor. The crappy thing is my truck is silver, and even though it has a paint code, there are many different variations of that paint code that Toyota and Lexus use. So we broke out the color book of swatches and found the one that matched. ARE is still jerking me around though and stalling for whatever reason. I ordered this shell on December 16th, and it's been over a month now. I initially told them I needed it in a month for a road trip, but given the rain and I extended a work contract until January 30th, I told them they have until then to get the shell to me. I called the shop after a few weeks for a status update and the guy tells me ARE is requesting my fuel door. I was bummed and asked him when he found out that info. He told me ARE sent him an email requesting the fuel door the day after I placed my order, and he must have forgot to call me and let me know, so those few weeks nothing was done, no progress made. Then he tried to blame it one his wife and said it's her fault because she's the one who I've been dealing with. I never met the guys wife! Then he promised he'd get it expedited. He dropped the ball on that one as well. So I get the color code and took pictures of the Dupont swatch that matches along with all the paint code info, and re-send them the pic of the tag inside the door with the Vin# and color code, and still waiting for a delivery date. I also told them I've given them several chances to make this right. If I don't get a definite answer by tomorrow (Monday) I'm cancelling the order, going to another shop and ordering a Leer. Too bad though, because I really wanted the ARE. I ordered a V-Series and really like their rear door much better than the other companies. It's the burliest and looks the most robust and durable. I'm super bummed about the customer service (or lack of) I've received so far. It's a combination of ARE and the dealer dragging their feet and apparently not caring. Would expect better treatment, especially since I ordered their top of the line shell.

No problem. I've been busy also. If you don't mind, even if you don't take any pictures, can you estimate the thickness of the honeycomb area? Something simple like the in comparison to the diameter of a particular coin would be fine. I'm thinking it should be an obvious difference. Also, the sportsman's package is supposed to come with rod holders; did you get rod holders?

    Hello.
Re: Truck and Snugtop. Very nice. I have the same truck, and am taking delivery on a Snugtop Rebel next week. Looks good. Just one question for you.
Did you remove the TRD stickers and re-apply them or no. Ive seen some people suggest the cap covers the decal, but every picture I've seen there is daylight between the top of the decal and the bottom of the cap. And if that's the case, all is well....
At any rate, looks very sharp!

Thats real shitty, ive read that the customer service makes a huge difference. Im ordering from a larger place called farmbro in canada so hopefuly they have better service then a small shop. So you never ended up removing the door. Hmm let me know what happens

    Debating on Shell vs Tonneau.
Would like to ask you guys, How easy is to remove & install Shell if you need to use the bed open?
Or do you even plan or removing/installing it often?
And finally why did you choose Shell over Tonneau or just leaving the bed as is.

shells aren't meant to be taken off and put back on regularly, the seals will eventually fail...though it is a pretty easy task with a buddy. I've had a cap on my truck for 5 years and never once have I wished I didn't. Once you cap, you wont go back.

I choose to cover up because I do not like to shovel snow from my truck and I do use the bed in the wintertime. Also it keeps my stuff dry -and dust free-, especially on hunting or fishing trips. The choice between tonneaux and shell was easy: With a tonneau, you get a maximum height of 19'' in a third gen, 18'' in a second gen. Most of my coolers are 20'' or more!:drunk:
