I ordered from Softopper and I think it was $750. I paid extra for the case.

I'm sure this question gets asked a lot and the answer is probably personal preference, but..... Thoughts of ARE vs Leer? I have an AC, and want to get a shell for the winter for camping/storing my skis. Is there really a difference between the two? I don't want anything fancy. just a simple shell to hold stuff.

I wish I could help you on the ARE. I can tell you this–if you decide on the Leer, get a quote from your Century dealer too. Both Leer and Century come out of the same moulds, the same paint rooms and get the same windows and doors.

After doing quite a bit of research, I'm going with A.R.E. Z Series. If you look at the curve of the rear/side windows, they follow the lines of the shell on A.R.E. Z Series and the hinges on A.R.E. shells seems to be a little more heavy-duty. At the end of the day, I think it's personal preference. I'm going with dual LED rope lights, remote keyless entry, and a couple of other features as well. Quote for everything (including labor) out the door is $2,731.32. Not cheap, but I plan on keeping this truck for many, many years. Check out this video if you are thinking A.R.E. vs Leer vs SnugTop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3HR4Yz6LdY ... I like the minimal, clean look of A.R.E. the best, but 100% personal. And they are all badass...it took me a long time to come to a definitive decision because they all look great.

That thing looks badass! I was thinking of picking up a Rebel as well for my '17. How do you like it so far?

Was going Leer or SnugTop, went to a dealer that carried both brands and ended up with a Century for $1650. It is 100% same as the Leer, just different logos. SnugTop was priced ridiculous for what it is in my book, even the Leer was way more than I thought it should be after learning they are made in the same factory. Literally the exact same manufacturing line (mold/doors/paint) one goes left and one goes right for different badges. If you pull the square Century badge, you will see the recessed spot for the Leer Logo.

How much is it costing to repaint it blue? Been thinking about changing the color on my next truck in a few years.

Have you confirmed the X series availability for 3rd gen? It's the only option I can't seem to get on the build page.

Apologies Hilux, that was a typo. I ordered Z series.

But I did see some of the new shells they are launching in early 2017 at SEMA and they look good!

Might be a ridiculous question.. What are the cheaper brands of toppers. Is one generally more expensive than others? I want to get a cap but don't want to spend an arm and a leg.. Or maybe even off brands?

You're saying Tampa, is it the Topper King in Brandon? I'm currently just outside Haines City and thinking about swinging out there.

I'd love to get a shell for my new 17 TRD DC offroad, but concerned about living with added weight and visibility obstruction everyday. How have your experiences been in regard to ride/handling/visibility?

Century is a cheaper version of Leer; heard they use the same molds even. Either way, I love my Century and it was about 500 cheaper than the comparable Leer.
