Never seen one of those before! Curious what the advantage would be over either a tonneau or a full height camper shell? Seems like a "neither fish nor fowl" type situation.

It's probably a pretty nitch requirement, but it allows you to secure your stuff as if it's in a shell or hard tonneau, while also keeping an RTT below the top of the cab (which keeps you from taking a hit in MPGs). Most people who want to keep the RTT mounted below the roof-line have to use a mid-hight rack that leaves your stuff semi-open to the elements & prying hands.

I have a short bed so having a cap limits my visibility a bit out the back window. As you noted it keeps an RTT below the roof line, I will have better access from the ground as my truck is only a moderate lift. It also provides a bit more space in the bed than a tonneau does while keeping my item out of the elements and away from any special 5 finger discounts. It will be set-up tp support additional weight when I am not using an RTT so I can pile stuff on top or underneath. Not as efficient in that area as a topper but not bad either. Its just a different option (and cheaper than a brand new full topper)

Those of you with Yakima landing pads, what length load bars are you using. I’m picking up a CVT RTT and all I have is the landing pads currently. Unsure of what else I need. Mounting to a ARE shell with tracks and pads already installed.

^^^ I have 58” bars cut down to 54” (as used on a previous vehicle). Worked fine with my Tepui RTT. 48” would still work, at least with my ARE (Z Series) shell and track location, but wouldn’t have much overhang ... and I think 58” would stick out obnoxiously wide and take out a few eyeballs.

Ok thanks, I’m picking up a CVT Mt Shasta extended stargazer pioneer and need to get a temp rack set up for a trip next week!

I sold my RTT but put in thousands of miles, some dirt with the Tepui on two Yakima round crossbars, with Yak towers, on my ARE shell, with no loosening, cracks etc. Enjoy!

Has anybody had any experience with Range Rider Caps?
I'm looking to order a Range Rider Apex for my new '18 and the local dealer/accessory shop are pushing R.R rather than ordering a Leer, Raider or ARE.
Canopies on this side of the border are ridiculous!
They've quoted me $3,500 for an Apex with roof tracks, carpet, 70/30 swing out windows (similar to Leer 100xl or ARE Z series) colour matched & installed but free shipping because they deal direct with the manufacture.

Relentless front and rear bumpers, Warn M-8000S Winch, Relentless RockSliders, bigger tires, bed cover RTT ... and more big changes in the works.
Love this! I built mine from wood as a prototype and a metal version is in the works. Roof Top Tent is below roof line and bikes also don't stick up so high, when the tent is not mounted. I needed the additional height to allow the fridge to mount on a bedslide.

I did the same thing... Tried in wood and cardboard first. Since imI'nit metal working guy I tried reaching out to several Fab shops here on TW, but no one would bite, until I pinged Tony over at Kore. (Tried some locally in Colorado too) Tony even added a discount as part of his GB.

Mine will be slightly different than the photo because I'm having part of it done in aluminum rather than all steel.

I have a ARE V-series topper. I don’t have the Yakima tracks but I do have a stationary Vantech J-1000 roof rack (direct bolt landing pads - no tracks). When I had Cap World install the rack, they only had the 60” option. In my opinion it stuck out way too far. I cut it down so that it was roughly flush with the sides of the topper which made the bars around 48”. I like it a lot better now. 48-50+ seems like a good ballpark for the bars but 55-60+ is likely pushing it in my opinion. See below for some photos of mine with the 48” bars to give you an idea of their size. One good thing is that most of these bars are very easy to cut down, and typically include an end cap that would cover the cut line, so it’s easy to modify to your taste.

Good looking truck pwalnut. Was just about to pull the trigger on a tonneau last month when I ran across this leer 100XL. Came with the Thule roof rack and a cargo rack that I quickly removed. Love the functionality of this thing. :bananadance:

I really like that front bumper piece you have with the light bar and wench.

I have to tell you... I think the third Gens are ugly and I hate blue trucks... but this has to be the best looking 3rd Gen I've seen!
