@solscooter I am in the midst of my first install as well. @hookembevo was kind enough to direct me your way with the door not opening. I can not figure out why it will not open. After installing sound deadener I installed door panel and aligned cables as before. I tested and everything worked fine. I locked it with my FOB - could not open door from outside or inside. Since I could not get the panel off again now I was able to put window down and look inside the door from the top. I was able to pull the panel back far enough to see that the cables/ball were still properly attached. Just to make sure I unlatched the cable from the lock button and pulled on it manually to unlock - nothing! What did the dealership do???
I need to get tranny TSB update as well. would love to figure this one out on my own ( aka Tacomaworld).

Nice job on the install! What speaker wires/gauge did you use for the regular speakers and sub?

You traded your Mustang for truck too!!! Here's the one I let go....IMG_0794.jpg

Not sure exactly what the dealer did but it was quick. Sounds like our situations are the same.

I was able to get to the cable through the handle grabbed it with a pair of pliers and pulled as hard as I could. Only managed to get the door to pop half open but not release completely. I gave up figuring the dealer probably had tools I didn't. They never told me exactly what was done

When at the dealer I was honest about what I'd done. They didn't charge me for fixing it. I saw it was originally invoiced for 30 dollars, so not even an hours worth of labor.

I used stinger for all the wires. 16 gauge for the doors and 12 for the sub. Speakers are getting broken in 4 six hour straight drives later and sounding awesome.

I do miss the tail sliding adventures in my mustang. I'm sure there will be another in the not to distant future. For now I enjoy not having to dodge speed bumpers or steep inclines.

Still trying to sell patrs I have lying around. :(

Yeah I miss the 540 HP but went practical with teenager needing a car too.

Will let you know my encounter with dealer. I will try to see what they do. Figure this may happen again with another panel

@solscooter I can't get into Toyota dealer service for a couple of weeks. Would you mind sending me name of dealer you went to and techs name on invoice that fixed your door? I'm hoping to chat with him and maybe figure out on my own. My sub box supposed to come in soon and anxious to get it fired up!! Thx Brian.

never mind. crazy thing happened. I just happened to test door one day and low and behold it just opened! Don't have any explanation for it. I immediately removed door panel so I could access the door. hopefully won't happen again when I install panel

So my amp is able to take direct input from the factory deck. Read some back and forth on the factory head unit in the 16s not have any bass cutoff. Figured I'd test it out as I had enough extra speed wire and some time to soldier a new harness so away I go!

    IMG_3701.jpg

Ran out of wire covers half way through put have plenty of electrical tape. Finished it all up just a matter of having the time to get back in the cab and pull the heady it out.

Maybe I'll have an extra harness up in the sale section soon.

I'm pretty sure there isn't any bass cut off. If there is I haven't found it yet. How is your stereo coming along? Just testing out different options for running your amp?

I meant roll off. Haha I e had a week of brain farts.

Stereo has been done and broken in. Only part left is to flush mount the bass control knob. Yeah just testing different options. This would eliminate a lot of wires

Wow! Great write-up! Thanks so much.

If you have the information handy, can you post the parts numbers for the four Metra harnesses?

    Thanks again!

I guess I never updated it here. There is no bass roll off with the etune head units.

So now that JL has released their steathbox for the 16+ I decided to jump on board. It has always secretly annoyed me that my current sub doesn't fit perfectly.
Went with a new amp too because why not.
With this I'll get another opportunity to rewire the input side of things.

The JL amp takes high level inputs so I'll stick with it this time around and remove the LC7i currently wired in.

3rd metra harness completed. Waiting on time at this point to pull it all apart to get it booming again and see if there is any sound difference. Won't matter really though. I'll be sticking with the JL stuff at this point.

    Here we go again

Well it cleaned up nicely. This amp is amazing. Getting a lot more out of my fronts. Sub needs broken in but already sounds better than the pioneer pancake.

I hate that you guys without the JBL stereo have it "so easy" to drop a system in...my JBL system really sucks and is going to be three times the headache for wiring and components...but great job on your setup Sir!
