Just last week I finally got my ECU updated to the newest version. Truck has never driven better, it’s seriously like a new vehicle. Not a week after the update my CEL came on and after bringing it to the dealership they tell me the valve inside the Charcoal canister isn’t working and I’ll need a new canister. Parts and labor $1200. They assure me it has nothing to do with the recently updated ECU, but I know the ECU controls the values and purges for the EVAP system And I also know the dealerships are a bunch of liars. So does anyone with more knowledge than me have any thoughts? Could the ECU Update be responsible for the valve failure in the canister or am I just unlucky and my canister failed at 70k miles. On a side note, I’m not over filling my tank and saturating the canister with fuel.

Emissions warranties are sometimes much longer than the std warranty. Wouldn't hurt to check....

Seems like I heard people that “top off” after click when filling up can have issues with this system. Do you top off?
