    Well sir... Thank you.

This will be my next move for now. My truck seems too new to have developed an issue like this especially since I make sure to change the oil every 5k.

The noise is concerning but it just started and right now it's intermittent only on mornings where the temps dropped below 50. It lasts for roughly 3-5 seconds. It's fine for the remainder of the day.

I've read some people say... Extreme.... They replaced their motor... I certainly don't want to do that since I bought a slow 4cyl turd for the long haul 250k+

I've read others say... Other Extreme.... My trucks been doing this for 10 years... Or it's a stand Tacoma noise ...ignore. I don't want to do that either.

Lastly I really do not want to pull open the valve cover .... At least not yet, so thanks for the suggestion. I will be giving this liquid molly a try soon. I'm due for an oil change in about 2k anyway.

I replaced the valve cover gasket around 150k due to seeping and it hasn't seeped since. It's a disturbing sound.

So THIS just happened: For the past 3 weeks at start-up, misfire/rough idle and the engine cutting out here & there until it is fully warmed up or approximately 15 minutes of driving. Once warmed up, no issues, but from cold start through the first 15 min of driving, the engine would cut out and felt like it was going to die. Mechanic couldn't duplicate the issue, so it took weeks of dropping it off and playing this game until he FINALLY got to experience it. LONG-story-short, the 2TR-FE has 2 valve cover gaskets because there's one around the coils. My coils were drenched in oil and they were hosed. $110 per-coil + labor and my truck now drives like new.
