Just dropped the truck off at Southern Style Offroad last night for mock up of their prototype Slimline Hybrid Bumper. Kevin is a great guy who makes quality products so we'll see what he comes up with.

For those of you unfamiliar with their products, here are a couple photos of their current slimline products. The 2nd gen. Bumper is about to go into production.image.jpg image.jpg

For what it's worth, I ran the first batch of this bumper on my 5th Gen Trail Edition 4Runner. While there were some shopping snafu's (driver dropped it off their lift gate, bent it, attempted to repair it without notifying Kevin or myself :annoyed:), it made it finally and was AWESOME.

I'm sure I bugged Kevin more than I needed to during the process, but he was great to work with and sent a new bumper right away.

This thing is SOLID. I pulled on it from every angle I could imagine in Moab and other places. The shackle reinforcements are great and I got a ton of compliments on it.

Sub'ing to most likely go this route again!

I'm excited to see what they can do. I've emailed them a few times about this exact thing. Be sure to post pictures when you get some! Subd.

Very cool. Fingers crossed it's easy enough and they can get them into production quickly. Not a fan of the whole metal numbers and this is perfect. I bought one of the AVID bumper guards when they were in Group Buy mode, but may have to get rid of it for this....

I'm not sure on either account. Best thing to do is email them. They're really good about responding.

Yeah, and let me know if you need another candidate for testing/fitting etc... would love to have something like this on my rig... so slimline compare to whats out there. Last thing this truck needs is more bulbous shit up front.

Sub'd. This looks cool, but I am still a bit a bit weary of bumper cutting.

Especially since I have an appointment to get my Utility Package unpainted bumper color-matched to my truck this coming monday. I'd hate to spend $300 on that and then cut into it.

Well prepare to cut into it, because the entire center section gets cut out. I'm sure this mounts basically the same as the last one I ran. It's not difficult, but you will loose the entire section under the grill

It really depends. Kevin said he tries to make it as noinvasive as possible. He may cut the center section and try and get rid of the chin. I gave him full reign so he said he's going to do whatever flows best with the body lines.

Neat. Only messing with that center section would be nice, since then if you ever want to return to stock it's just a matter of grabbing a new center, not a whole new bumper. Dunno how feasible that is from an engineering / aesthetic standpoint.
