I think it sounds real good man. I just wanted more lows and the 10" definitely delivered. Wasn't looking for pounding cruise the block to pick up honeys type of bass..little old for that. Radio station doesn't sound the greatest like classic rock bass lines hit weird but thats pretty normal lol.

It just really stinks Toyota didn't put an out on the head unit....I didn't want to swap out my brand new stock head unit for aftermarket stuff just to get a sub. I was curious if the upgraded JBL head unit had a sub out since the JBL package comes with a sub but I couldn't find a rear diagram for the JBL unit.

I'm highly doubt the JBL head unit has RCA outs either

Probably right sure it's just a different harness to add the sub.

Thanks man ya pretty much worked out.. Have this weird feedback problem now hopefully it's just a matter of moving the amp remote wire. You happen to remember what you tapped into for the remote wire? I started a thread on the issue...my air was staying on for about 5 seconds after the ignition is off.

I ran into more problems with this sub and amp install than I ever have.

1st problem after having everything hooked up was feedback. My air was staying on for about 5 seconds after turning the truck off. Found out it was the remote wire the amp was actually powering the air system for 5 seconds after the truck was turned off...the amp I used has auto sensing so I disconnected the remote wire and problem solved.

2nd problem no left rear door speaker. After fixing the feedback issue I noticed that my left rear door speaker was no longer working. Fix was pulling apart the taco tunes harness to find a bad wire in the harness. For anyone thinking of dumping the $40 on the harness I wouldnt. The point of the harness is to not splice into the rear speaker cables to get the audio signal for the sub....its probably easier to just splice into the rear speaker wire like most the other forum members are doing..or better yet make your own harness. The harness simply doubles the rear speaker wire connections.

I emailed and tried calling ********* numerous times and heard nothing....unfortunately I will not buy anything else from this company.

All in all I am very happy with the sub, amp and box though. Sounds better than I had hoped for and that's always a good thing!

So if I'm looking at this diagram correctly, to tap into the front speakers is the R30 harness. Id splice 1 and 5 for right; 2 and 6 for left?

Just thought I would post the wiring I used to install my system. Its spot on as far as describing what each wire is.

So you never ended up connecting the right side? I was wondering about this myself. Seems much easier to just tap into the left and be done with it. The only impact I can imagine is if I ever mess with the balance and balance way right I'd start losing bass. I never mess with the balance though so its a non-issue, right?

Alright.. I got a kicker hideaway powered sub today. Hooked everything up and nothing happened. I don't have the remote line hooked up but I do have it set to DC offset which is supposed to sense power through the input and power on by that signal. I have 12v and a good ground at the harness as well as 6 volts at the input line. If I run 12 volts to the blue remote line it powers on and works. Seems to me like the auto on feature isn't working. Any ideas?

Ever get the auto on feature working? I'm getting ready to install my Hideaway tomorrow.

Also, where did you tap onto the speaker wire? I'm thinking to do it from the grommet area by the door hinge.

Lastly, do you recall the rear speaker wire colors? I noticed the right rear are green and blue but I forgot to pay attention to the right rear. The beginning of this thread (wire colors) is somewhat confusing to me.

What wire did you end up using for the ignition switch (auto-on feature)? I'm getting ready to install my sub tomorrow.

Does anyone know what the plug in the top row in between the two large connectors is for? I don't have a connection in my truck for it. I am trying to upgrade my SR radio and am missing that one. 00j0j_k4SRDTP75tR_1200x900.jpg
