2016 Struts on 2nd Gen

I guess somebody who really wanted to modify their truck could tear out the UCAs and LCAs and weld some stuff onto the frame... lol

I just thought it was timely that @jberry813 created his thread and someone else immediately asked about putting struts on their Tacoma.

 

Does anyone know the spring rate for the 16' offroad coils? I'm curious as to if it's the same as the second hens. I'm thinking about picking up some 3rd Gen coit's and pairing them with some 5100's set at 0 for my 2nd Gen.

 

Toytec sent them out and said they were 717 lbs. The 2005 -2015 5100 will work with the oem coils but bilstein is supposedly coming out with a new 5100s shock just for these coils. (I have heard 3rd gen are having issues.) I called bilstein looking for a heavy duty shock like the off roads but the are still in R&D.

 

I wouldn't buy any aftermarket shocks for a 3rd gen. Most companies don't have the valving figured out yet for the oem springs.

 

Pretty stiff then at 717, I think ome are like 590. Not sure what stock 2nd Gen offroad coil's are.

I've been digging around on this topic too. I have 2016 sport suspension in my garage and I am concerned that the Hitachi's are shit. I may just wait for the new 5100's to come out. I am in no hurry.

Yeah I was thinking about picking up a used set of coils just to level. But if they are that stiff and can't be paired with the 5100 I think I'm just going to go ome.

I haven't heard good things about those Hitachi shocks, would be a downgrade going from your bilsteins to those Imo.
