Saw this on www.dirtroadtrip.com. is this accurate? If so can I go up an inch in tire size over what would have fit a stock suspension without rubbing on a Gen 2? Thanks for any input. Basically want to move up in tire size without lifting or leveling if possible. Wondering if I can go bigger than 265/70 17 without issues.

    • According to Toytec, the 2016 Tacomas have nearly identical upper/lower control arms, spindles, and coiler shock configurations as the 2005-2015 Tacomas. This means that, generally, the same parts from the prior generation are interchangeable with the new Tacoma.
    • HOWEVER, all else being equal, Toytec’s ride-height measurement showed that the 2016 Tacoma rides 1” higher than the previous model (measured from the the center of the hub to the fender lip), and even confirmed it with a droop measurement. This basically means that for the new truck, the traditional 3” Toyota IFS suspension lift is really going to be more like 2”, unless you want to give up all of your down-travel and have a truck that rides like crap.

Wow, a well thought out and written question! Great first impression. I honestly couldn't tell you, but I can say that 265/70r17s are a great size. I'm running them on a 2.5" lift and it still looks good. I guess what I'm getting at is if you don't really care about that extra inch, 265/70r17s will look great.

Thank you for your response. I will take your advice. If I could trouble you (or anyone) with one more question. Going to a Level 8 MK6, 0 offset or -10 offset, any issues with 265/70 17 for these offsets?

I'm your man! I've got the Level 8 MK6 with 0 offset running a 265/70-17 with no issues at all. All I had to do was remove my front mudflaps. You may not have to with a '16. Let me get you a pic.

    EDIT: Here you go.

Not a problem at all! For future reference, if you want to reply to someone directly, click "Quote" on the right side of their post. People will be a lot more likely to respond that way.

EDIT: As I forget to quote you...oh the irony.
