Hey all, I’m new to the Tacoma World Forum and brand new to Toyota. Was a Chevy guy turned Ford guy, until I bought my first Tacoma. I fell in love with the design and interior. But recently I noticed after the truck idles for a short time, it’s start to high low idle. Is this a Tacoma design flaw or an issue with something? Any help and guidance would be helpful.

When the truck is in park it revs up and goes back to normal idle.

Well it could be a number of things, AC pump, injector cleaning, it doesn’t sound out of the ordinary.

Mine does this, I wouldn't worry too much. The AC runs automatically when its on defrost or the foot/defrost combination. And if you turn the wheel the PS pump works/raises idle. I had a similar issue with my K&N filter and MAF sensor, and I fixed it by cleaning the MAF with contact cleaner.

I just tested it out. As soon as I heard the click the idle came up. As that happened I shut the heat off and it returned to normal idle. I did it several times to make sure and that definitely is the culprit. Must be some type of design flaw. Glad it’s not a big issue. Thank you for the guidance.
