Their explanation is that the sound from the new differential is "within their acceptable design range." I took two videos for them and they analyzed both videos, one on the old differential and the other on the new one. Those videos are posted here on this site for people to make their own opinions and several members have pointed out that they sound strikingly similar. It sounds just as loud to me when I'm driving the truck every day. Toyota said when they looked at the old differential they saw no excess signs of wear so they do not believe it is a safety issue, or one that seriously affects the value of the truck. The warranty was a courtesy from them and they will only investigate the differential further if the noise increases significantly or if mechanical failure occurs.

I live in California and although California is very consumer friendly, I bought the truck out of state and therefore do not qualify for the California lemon law. I wouldn't lemon the truck anyways, I am not in a position financially where the lemon law process is worth my time. If it comes to it, I have no problem with taking this as a life lesson, trading in, and never purchasing a new Toyota in the future. Although the warranty really is a nice gesture and I do appreciate it, I am disappointed with their final decision. If this, and the other minor issues I have with the truck, truly are within their "standards and acceptable design range" then that is fine, but it isn't what I, the consumer, find acceptable when spending that amount of money on a vehicle. Thus, I will look elsewhere for my next vehicle purchase if this is where Toyota really does end their support for the issues.

A few reasons for so many slightly used ones in your market:
Too small and decided to get a full size truck.
    Financial issues.
Upgraded to a different model within same brand. Access cab to crew cab.

Comparing a taco to the VW scandal is a stretch, a far one. Nice try though.
    Unfixable problems ? LOL
And people never buy stuff they wind up not affording ? Get real.

Im in redondo beach, I was using arco in my mercedes and had no issue so I continued with the taco, the chirp happened at 4-500 miles. I have about 2300 now and after I had the high pressure pump replaced it didnt chirp again for 500 miles.. I switched to chevron and its chirping again...

I test drove a 2016 in the fall and then ordered my truck. Havent had any issues, other than getting the trans update. 6500 miles so far. Based on watching some co workers and their vehicle purchases and trades, not surprised to see some 2016's after 12 months of them being available.
