One of the car magazines, maybe MT, had times for a manual 16 and it was about 0.8-1s faster 0-60. I'll try looking around for the magazine if I have some time this week, but I may have tossed it already...

Sorry, But I highly doubt that 14s will happen for any configuration.

Manuals do have the 4.30 gears though too. Might help off the line a bit if you can get a good launch.

Car and driver manual test drive is the article you're looking for. Motortrend had a 15.2 for a 4x2 access cab and 15.4 for the 4x4 dcsb trd off-road, both autos. Car and drivers manual Trd off-road beat the auto by .4s in the quarter mile and .8 seconds to 60. It also had 160 extra pounds in it for some reason.

So with a good driver and good run the manual 4x4 is very close to high 14's? That really isn't bad for a v6 truck...

Its still 15.8 seconds in the quarter. Far from 14s but still very respectable. Its quicker to 60 because of the gearing and axle ratio, but you can see it looses top end compared to the auto as it is about 2 mpg slower through the finish.

Also love your quote, i remember that thread. Very entertaining.

Just going by motor trend having more favorable testing conditions than car and driver. The dcsb 4x4 auto ran 16.2 on their track

I know what you are saying, but it just cant do it. The manuals gear ratio helps it get to 60 quicker, but it looses steam after that. They are very close in the quarter no matter how you slice it.

i got a trd sport 4x2 double cab it is completely stock and it took me pulling all the seats but the driver seat out and pulling the tailgate, even droped the spare and pulled the jack. showed up to the track with a 1/4 of a tank of gas. and the best time i was able to get was 15.82 but if you correct the time do to the high DA that day (used dragtimes to do so) it makes it a 15.67. which is not saying much. at the end of the day it just comes down to the simple fact the the truck was not built for speed. getting in to the 14s with a stock truck is going to to be very hard to do.
(i would post pics of the time slips if i still had them put sadly i do not but i will be going back to the track very soon now that the weather is cooler and try again will post slips then. i still got a few tricks up my sleeve my goal is to get as close to 14 as possible with it still stock. but until then she is one hell of a dial-in truck)
