I known says 400w max but I decided to try a microwave that was 700w anyway, for lunch at work. It worked just fine for 2 minutes and I've only done it once. Anybody think this will eventually cause damage to anything if I continue to try this?

    I suspect that:

400w is max sustainable load of the inverter

700w is max peak load of the microwave

So long as it's not tripping a breaker or blowing a fuse you're probably okay, but realistically I imagine you're awfully close to maxing the system.

Realistically however that outlet was put there so contractors can charge tool batteries on the job site, and instalanders can charge camera gear and such which requires almost no current.

If you wanted to run that microwave frequently I would consider installation of a higher output inverter and larger gauge wires to support it.
