I brought my Tacoma in for the frame recall after receiving the letter from Toyota. The turnaround was a day to spray the frame. I went to pick it up and got under the truck to inspect and it didn't look like anything was done to the frame. I questioned the tech and was told that it is sprayed from the inside out. Is this correct or is he lying? Should I notice some kind of spray remnants? TYIA.

I would think you'd see something(i know others have), haven't had mine done yet. I was told it needs to come back on my next visit.

Someone posted a picture up here somewhere, it looked like pudding dripping off the frame after the Dealer globbed it on.

I’ve been fluid filming mine since 2016 mine looks new still . I do live in the south though. But I do take it to the beach and have submerged it to the doors in brackish water for water crossings and some trail mud holes . I just put it on a lift and degrease /clean it then re apply fluid film .

My 2017 got the plug kit that seals up the front boxed sections, but no spray. They said it wasn’t required on mine.

Well you took it, and there was documented work. If they actually didn't spray it you should be good for a full replacement if it does rot

I confirmed this with my dealer. They said in my case no spray was needed, but the extended warranty will apply.

So I inquired more about this, because it got me thinking “what makes my frame not require spray?” I talked to my dealer and they said my frame has caulking already between the two layers of steel “called a frame rail seal”. When frames have this caulking from the factory, they don’t need that white snot.

Don’t know if this photo explains, but the two layers of steel have black caulking.
