Does anyone have or has anyone seen a 2016 access cab with the factory installed tonneau cover? None are appearing in the southeast/Atlanta inventory. I am thinking this may be a factory order situation for me.

    Thanks,

    Thanks for the responses ya'll.

Crepr12, I found the post you mentioned. Thanks for the heads-up. I hope that is not the case but I have a couple of dealer contacts attempting to verify the status of factory covers for the long bed. We shall keep our finders crossed but I'm not overly optimistic at this point

Access, If I indeed can no longer get the factory cover on the access cab then I will definitely be shopping for an after market cover.

    Cheers!

I'd say go aftermarket if you want a Tonneau cover. I have the factory Tonneau on my DCSB, and although I'm fairly happy with it, it's not perfect, seemingly overbuilt and unless they're giving you a killer deal on one if they can locate one, you could easily find something aftermarket for the same or slight more money that may suit your needs better. My factory cover leaks just a little when it rains (but have read posts about other aftermarket folding Tonneaus doing the same thing, so I guess it's a wash. Others have also complained about the factory cover because they have to cut the bed rails to install the bolts that lock the cover in place. Again, this doesn't bother me in the slightest, but for the OCD crowd it seems to drive them nuts! One thing I do like about the factory cover is it's easily removed, and it doesn't require the use of the rails in the bed that hold the tie downs like others seem to do. I haven't done a ton of research on aftermarket Tonneau covers, so just take what I say with a grain of salt. I may be one of the few who is actually happy with the factory cover though!

I heard from one of the dealers today. She said the factory tonneau cover is available on the access cab but they won't be available again until after the first of the year. she also said that the cover for the access cab cost about $200 more ($849) than the cover for the double cab ($650) because it is longer and because it has an LED bed light. I'm still waiting to hear from the other dealer. I am a bit leery about her information and wonder if the cover she is referencing is the aftermarket cover Toyota was selling as a dealer add-on accessory.

Hopefully, dealer #2 will be able to validate the info from dealer #1.

Just a follow-up post on my cover question.

I picked up the truck I ordered last wednesday. You can indeed get a tri-fold tonneau cover on the access cabs but it is not the new cover that comes on the short bed trucks. They are shipping them with the Rugged Cover II hard trifold tonneau cover that clamps onto the deck rails.

    cheers,
    -M

That sounds like a dealer installed aftermarket cover.
