Still would like to know the thinking on why Toyota will not allow any future Access cab buyer. To be able to purchase the utility option. Why does the SR 4 cylinder only have the option.

Even if they charged nothing for the option. They would make money buy not installing the seats, belts, cup holders and sliding glass window.

Guess I will just have to remove them myself. And just have some holes in the truck from the shoulder belts.

they don't make money by removing pieces. They make a profit on each piece they install

Has anyone see if there is any difference on the Access cabs. Between the 2nd and 3rd gens. If they are the same?

If they didn't make any changes. You should be able to buy the one large piece of plastic interior. That makes the Utility for the 2nd Gen. And install it on the 3rd after you remove the seats and belts.

Then wouldn't it be on both sides for both front seats?

I was assuming he meant like car-seat tiedowns, so you'd only need it passenger side.

well I don't imagine seeing a car seat with a baby/toddler driving needing a latch system on the driver side :)

FYI. My local Toyota dealer told me that the utility option is only avalible for a WHITE SR. He said it was intended for a work truck. I guess you cant deliver auto parts in a red truck?

Just an FYI, I called our local, small dealership here in coastal Oregon, and within 2 hours they found a Silver SR, 4 cyl, 4x4, AC, MT with Utility Package (bonus of mats and sill covers). Came to dealership pre-approved and we're getting it to the dealership on Mon/Tue of next week. He also had a Red SR with the same configuration. I think the color limitation is specifically with the AT.

/edit - Will post Pics 10/5-6 after delivery.

When I go to get my Sport Access Cab Tacoma at the end of the year. I'm gonna do what I have to to get Utility Package and no towing.

Truck is in the driveway, and thought I'd follow up on the pic, though the cab shot has already been shown. SR w/Utility pkg, MT, 4x4, 4cyl.
Have driven city and highway, and though I won't win any races, do not feel I missed anything by getting a 4cyl vs 6cyl, other than spending another $8K to get into one. Very happy with the purchase, and I know this truck is beast enough to take me fishing and hunting on the back roads of coastal Oregon. ARE canopy is on order to keep most of the rain off.

    Awesome truck, DTharvest.

I'm a huge fan of the basic AC model, that truck is the best value for a Tacoma by far, and I'm sure it'll treat you well for a very long time.

For me though, that black front clip looks ridiculous. I can deal with black mirrors and black bumper, but if I bought that model the first thing I'd be doing is negotiating a discount at the dealer to cover the cost of putting a proper front end on the truck.

I agree. I actually like the black mirrors, door handles and rear bumper. But the front needs to be painted the same as the standard SR (without the utility package). I wonder how much that would cost.
